  our fellow poster, and long time family friend, cold creek swimmer called my wife and i today to let us know that he had lost his father in death yesterday.

  our thoughts and prayers go out to you dear friend.

  i pray that the god we love so much may give your family strength to get through the next few days.

  at work tonight someone came in with a t-shirt that read in large, bold print on the back of his shirt, "muslims suck!

  " as the manager on duty i had the enjoyable task of approaching this very reasonable (tongue in cheek) fellow and explaining to him that our policy did not allow for such t-shirts and he would, therefore, have to either turn it inside out so it couldn't be read or he would be asked to leave.

  his reply, "you're a f***ing muslim loving b***h!".

  I was never comfortable with the shunning of DF'd ones. I always made a point of making eye contact and smiling if I saw one of the forsaken ones. I never avoided shops where they worked either. I guess that sounds really arrogant now, knowing what I know, but at the time it was the best I could do.
  
  I always hated how people would hold a grudge against someone who was DF and reinstated, or just reproved. Years later I would hear "Oh you shouldn't get involved with that person cause they were publicly reproved 5 years ago".
  
  
  A few weeks ago I saw a woman who was DF's several months ago. I really like this woman and was sorry to hear she was having a hard time. I tried to get the kids out of the van as fast as I could so I could go talk to her, but of course, I was too slow. NEXT TIME!!!!

  wendell willick was sentenced to prison last week for sexual abuse of a girl beginning in 1996 when the girl was 14. he was an elder at the time, but gave up being an elder a few years ago and left the jw's entirely in 2004. his lawyer gave some weasel words toward the bottom of this story that claimed willick wasn't acting in his capacity as an elder when the abuse occurred.

  i was a pioneer for 7 years, before that i was a regular auxiliarry pioneer for 3 years, i have been a witness for 17 years.

  so... my condo complex is getting some badly needed new lighting.

  finally, the tall new lights are installed and they are removing the much shorter older lights.

  they left them laid on the ground for a few hours while they dug up the old bases.

  NSRN, he used to be totally inconsolable when he would get upset, now he has learned to control himself pretty well. He has some allergies and sensitivities to preservatives and food colouring. Now that he is detoxed he is a much happier child. We will continue to keep a close eye on him in case he does need more help.
  
  His teachers say he is progressing really well in school and he has made a couple of friends. His social skills are still developing however he is a shy child to begin with.

  is there some sort of doctrine, or belief, principle, rule or whatever, that says that jehovah's witnesses, when asked, must confirm that they're jehovah's witnesses?

  (one possible basis for such a rule, that comes to mind, is the bit about peter denying jesus three times before the cock crowed.).

  The reason this thread is called ... Thanks ... is that my eyes have been opened to what to expect outside my safe haven. I will now view exjw's for what they really are. Not just disgruntled exes but ones who will do anything to dishonor the truth.

  So ... thanks a lot ... you've made me see where my loyalties lie.

  It depends if the person asking has any right to know.

  Doesn't hurt to ask. I don't believe asking a question is against any laws.
