I am just starting my fade. If I hadn't found this place I'd be DF'ed by now, 'cause when the elders asked me why I stopped doing meetings and service I was going to tell them I had doubts and didn't believe JW's were God's true organization on earth. So JWD saved me a great deal of heartache on my slow, careful way out.

i was laying in bed and trying to drift off to sleep.
all of a sudden i had a vision of my father building our dining room table.
we moved when i was four and this was at our old house so i must have been pretty young.
I don't know what to say.
i just wanted to to write quickly and let you all know how proud i am of myself... .
this weekend, hubby and i took the kids to my mom and dad for a visit.
i have avoided doing this for a while, just because i get so stressed when we get together.

i just missed two meetings for the first time in five years.. this past week i went "on vacation", housesitting for relatives nearby.
i told my bookstudy overseer i'd be "away", even though i was only a twenty minute drive from the kingdom hall.
i spent the entire week away from my insane family, away from the meetings and away from my "brothers and sisters".. it felt great.. coming home felt... not so great.. but the first brick in my fade has been laid.
Went to the meeting today, after my two time absence.
As I was getting ready to leave for the meeting I felt heavy, as if a great weight were descending upon my shoulders. Everyone at the hall was nice, nobody gave me a hard time for my absence. So in that sense it was ok. Didn't enjoy the meeting itself though. Felt out of place. I spent most of the public talk planning my writing / directing career, telling stories in my head and practicing directing scenes from a horror movie. (Life is WAY more interesting in my head.) The Watchtower however, was harder to ignore. Harder too, to pretend I was paying attention. I spent most of the time looking over the edge of my magazine searching for images in the carpet patterns. I found the coolest "Evil Homer Face" in the carpet a few feet away from my chair. High entertainment.

I think it's important that I do nothing truly "out of character" during my fade. It's got the be the same me, just with "weaker" spiritual habits. You know, due to depression and stress and such.

I walked 4.6 km of it in one hour this afternoon. Woot! (that's about 2.8 mph)
Don't worry, I took a bottle of water, but next time I'm taking a whole litre. 500ml wasn't enough. I'm hoping to slowly and eventually work my way up to 2 hours at 3.1 mph. That would give me 10 km in two hours.
I figure if I do this at least 559 more times I might lose 80 lbs.
This is going to take a while. LOL.

Wow. When I started waking up, one of the things I said was that the organization felt abusive to me. I thought maybe I was overly sensitive but apparently not. I guess I really did recognize it for what it is.
