Just shows that current policy needs to be changed STILL....I was just talking about this with my mom who is a very active jw...and i was saying that it needs to be made known too the families in the kingdom hall is there a pedophile..I mean the elders and ms can't be the only ones with that important info because families are so much better at protevting their children..i mean it's ridiculous..In the states by law you know the pedophiles on your street..How can they not inform you if a pedophile is in your same place of meeting??????????????And sadly enough, this story will just keep on repeating.

We Need TRANSLATORS
by hamsterbait ini was delighted to discover that german xjw is a good english speaker, and was able to translate my analyses of the memorial partaker figures into german.
with lively response.. i am not suggesting that every thread be completely translated, but only that non-"fluff" threads at least get a chance in other languages, maybe even just the really pithy posts to spread the word.. spanish, french, are the most widely spoken after english.
it would at least be a start to informing the others who don't have access to english web sites.. the anti witless equivalent of "wikipedia" any takers to set up similar sites to jwd in other tongues?.

I've lurked around some spanish forums and there is definitely a need for translation of some weightier documents. I could help but my english-spanish translating skills are as good as my spanish -english skills.

Sound Familiar
by free2beme inmy sister-in-law's roommate and her are both witness woman who are in their 30's, never married, witnesses and lonely.
while i feel sorry for them, i have long since been telling the family that they should not have such a narrow view of available men, as the world is a big place.
something that is very irritating to witnesses, to hear.

I used to have tons of guy friends....Well two of my friends had a crush on me. One told me..the other told everyone else. Oh yeah and their was one brother who asked me out and then i found out he had a girlfriend...
in the spanish hall i found out one eligible brother was asking about me. Apparently one of the requirements was that I know how to cook well. My sister in law told him I knew how to make spaghetti..That was the end of that....hahaha!!!

when i'm able to..I take a breather. I go to the country or to the beach and just leave my problems on the side for a while..when I come back I usually feel refreshed and ready to face another day.....
I also make lists...Things that i can do to solve the obstacles in my life...the things that are out of my control I force myself not to think about. Focus on what I can control..

The Plunge Into HELL
by Farkel in: how old were you when baptized as a jw?.
i thought i would bring this up to another thread, because i saw that my old friend gary busselmen and others were baptised so young, as i was.
i recall a few years ago that a wt rag showed a picture of a little girl, not more than 8 or 9 years old being baptised into a life that she has no idea what it means for her for the rest of her life in dubland.. this reminds me of the hitler youth near the end of wwii: brainwashed, young and vulnerable.. here are my comments on the other thread.

Trusting The Authorities
by minimus indo you believe that the authorities should always be trusted?.
in some big cities, it is not uncommon for some police to be crooked.
some cops are known to pull over minorities simply because of prejudice.. in atlantic city, a mayor almost always in under indictment for bribery or some shady dealings.. in florida, it is being reported today in the news that the fire chief snapped pics of a young woman in a horrific accident.

I live In Peru...I can't believe Frankiespeakin says he would trust Hugo Chavez. The man is as corrupt as they get. he has complete control over media in his country and for as much as he criticizes Bush and his administartion he has no problem selling his oil to them...hmmmmmm....

I have to agree with Burn the Ships here. but i guess I have the cynical view because i live in a country where you constantly see crookedness and corrupt behavior. Many foreigners who come are way too trusting and end up conned. I don not trust police, the judicial system, etc here.. Firefighters might be the exception to the rule here since they work on a voluntary basis and recieve nothing. They are usually very devoted kind people.
