On Saturday night I met a former elder at a birthday party. I knew a little bit about him, and asked if I could talk to him. See, I handled it all wrong from the start, a "sister asking for advice." I should have kept it casual. He led me out to an adjoining room, and we talked for quite a while. Well, he talked. I found out he left in '92 and was disfellowshipped. He knew nothing about the generation change or the UN scandal. I tried to quote the Watchtower issue about the generation thing, he kinda believed that, but questioned the Un involvement. Like how did I know this for sure. I gave him the plowbitch web site and my e-mail address. Now I realize the web site is gone. I really screwed up and missed a good chance to let him know the real truth. I want to track him down and give him more web sites to look up. He's a very intelligent and well educated man and would probably accept things if they were presented logically. On the other hand, he says he couldn't care less what the Watchtower is up to, it's just not important in his life. I just can't believe this, maybe I'm obsessed with this, but I want him to know!! Should I try to get his e-mail addy or just wait for him to contact me, (which will probably never happen.) He's definately not an apostate, does not celebrate Christmas (we happened to be out of the room when they sang HappyBirthday, he doesn't do that either.) i think He's a believing walkaway, he knows Jehovah is a loving God, etc. I am so wound up over this, witnessing as a JW never felt like this. SO now what? Thank you for reading this.

Can We Give Words of Support To Simon For This Forum???
by minimus inwe go through cycles every so often here.
we get new posters every week and at times we lose some posters.
when most "newbies" find this site, they are thrilled to be able to express themselves in a way that they could never in a kingdom hall.

I had the priviledge of meeting Simon and Angharad in Florida. I always pictured him as the "crocodile hunter" on TV. What a surprise to find him so sweet and humble! And Angharad is just a doll. Many of us literally owe our lives to them. Hope I'm not sounding too meladramatic here, but it's the truth.

My mommy is dying.... :(
by outnfree ini'm off to new york this morning.
i'm fortunate that my oldest daughter will drive with me, missing class to support her mom and possibly to say a final farewell to her grandma.. my mother has has two strokes this year, and, after the first one in may, told me that she felt like she was dying from the inside out.
she had another stroke at the end of august, and was eventually put in a nursing home.

Losing our dog Kate....she was unique.
by ScoobySnax into me today was the saddest day for a long while.
kate my sisters dog developed a strange cough a week ago and so we too her to the vets and he gave her a steroid and antibiotic injection and kept her in for 4 days, she was diaganosed with "collapsed trachea syndrome" she was a yorkshire terrier and apparently this is common in small dogs like this.. my dad is a carpet fitter, and just over 2 years ago he was doing a job in a house close by and the woman that owned kate at the time kicked her as she walked past her and cussed at her as she cowered, dad was appalled and said he'd take her, which he did, and jane (my sister) took her in and spoiled her rotten.
this little bundle of nerves really developed into a fantastic little dog, she looked like a little rat to be honest!

I'm so sorry for the loss you and your sister have endured. Our pets are our families, and there is nothing wrong with mourning them.

Of course, there's always the "stayed overnight" rule. I know of plenty of Witness women who spent the night with a friend sitting outside their ex-husband's home, so they could testify that he spent the whole night with a woman. I don't consider them aggressors or spies... I consider them victims of the Watchtower's ridiculous rules.
A sweet 60 year old sister in my congregation was forced to do this in order to divorce her unbelieving, abusive mate. Forcing people to resort to this demeaning, and possible illegal action is sickening beyond belief.
Sorry it's not about elder spying, but I just had to say this. This sister's case has been dragging on for several years. i want to bite nails everytime I think about it!!
