the only experience i've had with 'apostates' was when i was 7 years old.
i was visiting family across the states and we went to a district assembly.
i remember a group of people outside with signs and billboards.
I remember going to Bethel before I was baptized, and outside the building were these people with signs. My ‘study conductor’ (hate that phrase) said these people were the “evil slave” and were possessed. I do remember making out one sign, it said “the Watchtower Destroys Families”. I thought at the time how crazy such a claim was. Years latter, and much wiser, I’m ready to get on line with these folks and hold up my own sign.

in other threads i have outlined when two elders came out to my house to provoke a situation to have reason to df me.
below is a copy of the certified letter i received about two weeks after i threww the two elders out of my house, followed by my reply to the secretary, who is also the elder that instigated the the situation as well as the chair of the judicial hearing they tried to form.. i have edited out personal information as well as his signature, since my wife is still an active dub and has enough trouble with them as it is.

You raise some good questions. I don’t have any Watchtower references however I can speak from my own experience. Some years ago my wife while pregnant experienced complications and we lost our daughter. Her name if she were alive today would be ‘Sara’.
The loving elders came by to cheer my wife and I up and as part of their little visit they corrected our ‘misinformed view’ and assured us “if the baby did not take it first breath, it will not be resurrected”. Apparently that’s the organizational view but I think you would have a hard time supporting such an idea in scripture. `
That was many years ago but I still regret to this day that I didn’t do then the one thing that would have made me feel better then and even now. I should have kicked the shit out of the loving elders. Bastards!

Sorry to hear you were put in the crosshairs so to speak, but judging from what you posted, you were fortunate. NYTELECOM1 is quite correct; it appears that is was amateurs that attacked you. Why do I say that? The nature of what you posted in your logs, but more importantly the facts that your site is still up and last but not least the fact that you snarfed the originating ip. All that adds up to minor league.
Some years back I managed what were called security tiger teams. The teams consisted of experienced hackers and we would collectively work together and attack our targets in coordinated attacks. Using this approach, our success rate approached almost 100%. Back then my team was doing this legally under contract with the US government, however there are a few pretty good hacker groups still out there, and unlike my team, they don’t play by anyone’s rules.
Ever hear of the Chaos Computer Club, from Hamburg Germany? Good hackers. Be glad it was not them that hit you. They caused massive headaches for one of my clients.

the msnbc news alert has yet to go off on this, yet the local morning show just signed off with the breaking news that someone in the "case" has committed suicide.. i've got it on fox tv news right now, yet nothing has been reported.. anyone else hear this yet?.

at this past week's service meeting, our congregation reviewed the part "keep seeking the kingdom first" in the january km.. the elder handling the part decided to include the admonition not to work overtime and risk missing a meeting, even if you need the money.
one drone in the audience even stated that working ot when we need it could lead us into becoming more and more materialistic.
well, when it comes time to take friday off to attend the district convention, i wonder if these same jws who refuse to work ot will get a favorable response from their employer when they request that friday off.

Good post. It reminds me of my situation some years back. Years ago I had a really good consulting job that paid more money then I ever made in my life. Anyway, I had to travel quite a bit and I missed a few meetings. Well, I got a talk’n to by the Elders. I explained to them that I was 3 months into this job and it would end in just another month. Not good enough, the Elders said I had to make a choice between the meetings or my work.
So after careful reflection I concluded they were in fact right, I really did need to get my priorities in order. That was in 1987 and you know, every now and then I do miss the meetings, but that passes quickly and I come to my senses. I sure hope anyone reading this will weigh all the costs; meetings or providing for your family. Think carefully, pray on the matter, consider all options……THEN DUMP THE MEETINGS!!!

what happens to bethel workers when they get old?
it seems to me that if one were a bethel worker for most of his or her life, he or she would have very little if any savings to draw on in their old age.
also unless im mistaken, a bethel worker does not pay into social security and we all know the borg does not, so i dont think they can collect social security, can they?
