she is a reporter for the religion section of the paper and she was interested and disgusted with what i told her--about the 2 witness policy.

we all know how the wts loves to toot their own horn about how jws are the most law abidding citizens in the world.
so then, why does the wts tolerate (encourage by its own inaction) the continuous ignorance of immigration laws?.
i have personally observed a whole host of illegal former canadians, mexicans, and central/south americans in congregations scatttered throughout the u.s. is the withholding of "privileges" sufficient conduct by those god told to obey all laws not conflicting wih his own?
I did a Spiritual Warfare thing on my wife this morning using this newspaper article. I got her to agree and say how bad is was that we taxpayers would be footing the bill for these illegal immigrants that get hurt here in the USA. How bad it was that everyone is made to pay for these people that have no respect for the immigration laws, and the laws of our land. She was shaking her head agreeing with me 100%. And then...and then...
Then I dropped the bomb on her when I informed her that the surgeons had to be extra careful so the guy would not bleed to death because as a JW he refused blood.
WOW if you could have seen her face. I know, I know, Im very bad, but I just cant help it; the devil made me do it!

Im sure this will be a sad day of reflection for many of us, myself included.
And as of September 12, any high-tech weapons and defense related stock should be going up. While Im at work, I will be making sure that the great increase in military cargo and air traffic bound for the Middle East gets there safely. Oops, did I give a secret away? Naa, you knew that already.
The Watchtower should make a killing on their military related stock; quite literally a killing.

the dubs i know claim to "cook out" the blood, but this in no way meets biblical standards.
in fact the way meat is slaughtered doesn't come close to meeting kosher requirements in the bible.

I personally know of a JW from the Dominican Republic that married someone just to get into this country. In fact the person he married and then latter divorced is his own half sister, using a loophole (READ LYING) to get around immigration laws. However when he became a naturalized citizen he took a different oath of allegiance just for JWs because the standard oath offended his conscience. Elders did nothing and he still brags about how he put one over on the INS.

i find it a stunning confirmation of exactly how abuse survivors are treated within the jehovahs witnesses community.
I have read this statement by this Watchtower spokesmen in context; his words and the callousness they represent is at the very least disgusting, and if I should listen to my gut, I read nothing but evil from this creep. Incidentally, my gut feelings are rarely wrong. These remarks are not just the musings of some rouge Elder but accurately represent the true feelings of the upper echelon of the Watchtower, i.e. the Governing Body itself.
In my opinion, they are pure evil!

Congratulations on presenting such a fair and balanced article on this often misunderstood group. Being a member in good standing going on 25 years, I can unequivocally endorse the truthfulness of most of the statements made in your article. The statements that I unfortunately cant endorse are limited to those of Mr. Brown, the Watchtower Societys spokesmen. When Mr. Brown says, it cannot be said that we will do nothing unless there are two witnesses, you could say he is technically correct, but I assure you he is far from being candid.
If an allegation of child molestation is made, the church Elders will confront the accused and if he denies the charge and there are not two witness to the occurrence the victim will be told that that is all that can be done. The victim is told to wait on Jehovah to straiten matters out. And in some cases is told to pray on the matter and try and find it in her heart to forgive the abuser. In most instances, as brought out recently in both the NBC program DATELINE and the BBC broadcast Panorama, the authorities will not be alerted and the abuser is free to molest again and again.
Should the victim or the victims parents now warn others in the congregation about the attacker, the victim and the parents of the victim are then subject to dis-fellowshipment and shunning because in the eyes of the church, they are now slandering a fellow Jehovahs Witness in good standing. Mr. Brown didnt tell you that did he?
Mr. Brown would also tell you that as a Witness I myself am free to write this very letter and have it printed in your paper, however what he would no doubt fail to inform you is that by doing so I may also find myself subject to judicial action, the consequence of which would include having some 6 million people under orders to shun me, to treat me as if I were dead.
But like Shirley Jackson, Bill Bowen, and scores of others, I too am willing to take that risk if by doing so I can help put pressure on the Watchtower Society to change its policy and start protecting kids instead of pedophiles within their ranks.

its taken as certain by most that the new world translaion is the work of fred franz.. now there are some funny expresions and words he chose to use in that translaion , that most people dont normaly use.but these words and expresions have been turned into catch-phrases by the witnesse, did he choose certain words when others wold have been more accurate in order to do this?
(the expression jehovahs witnesses had already been taken from the bible and used as a "special" phrase).
i wonder more though,did old franz choose these words insead of more common expresions in order to use them to deliberatly make some parts of the bible you woldn't normally link?for example the use of the word time or times in daniel, luke and revelation.is it really the same word that is used in tthe original language or could it be translated a different way, but "times" was used to make the link between them so it would fit in with their ideas on prophecy?are more instances of this in the new world translation?
The NWT is not a translation at all but rather a trans-literation (SP?).
A real translation is produced by examining the original language manuscripts and translating them to their English or other target language equivalents. This is no small undertaking. It is necessary to also incorporate the customary meaning of the source language at the time of its writing as part of the process.
In order to perform this task the translator or more correctly the translating committee must be well established experts in several fields of study, not the least of which is theology, linguistics, ancient customs of the time period, etc. Great fluency in the source languages is obviously also imperative to this task.
And since it is such a Herculean undertaking, that is why it takes so many years and involves so many highly trained people to accomplish this feat. Many people on such translation committees die of old age long before the translation is complete.
Yet we are to believe that a few men over a very short period of time managed to obtain not only the original manuscripts but then translated it 1 2 3. An amazing accomplishment considering no person on the NWT translation committee has ever graduated college or was trained in the aforementioned necessary disciplines.
