  hate to disappoint some of you but my brother~in~law is just fine.. just wanted to clear that issue up.. also a word of caution to any caring and generous souls who may be tempted to send any donations to an e-mail that you might have recieved from someone claiming to be silentlambs.

  I got e-mail from him not long ago so I knew it was likely a bunch of crap. A pretty sick joke if you ask me; but then maybe it was not meant as a joke.

  Bill sure has made some enemies, and likely he was expecting such reprisals, however these are the acts of a coward and that is as far as they will go.

  Bill has taken on he Tower in a manner that sends chills up and down my spine and envy to my bones when I think about the great mission he is on. It also sends chills to the boys in Tower HQ, and their loyal defenders.

  How wonderful it is to see someone stand up and do the right thing no matter how much it personally cost him, and how much these chicken-shits must hate him for it.

  We are all so very glad you are OK Bill.

  What Is The Hardest Thing About Leaving The Truth?

  is it losing family or friends?

  The hardest thing? I think maybe giving up the dream of eternal life. And it is indeed just a dream since I do know that all biological organisms die, humans included. Sometimes I want the delusion back, but there is no returning.

  Pondering the fact that there are likely more days behind me then there are ahead of me is not fun.

  And the most disturbing of all is the knowledge that my own children will also face death.

  Thanks for the depression.

  How likely is a fatal accident in an airplane?

  i'm trying to reconcile the society's stats in the

  awake, dec. 8th, page 8!

  they claim that there's a 1 in 5,100 probability of being killed in a plane crash!

  For the last 11 years it has been my responsibility to maintain the air traffic control system in a large metropolitan area, and I assure you that figure cannot be correct!

  Assuming you are reporting the assertion of AWAKE correctly, why would anyone in his or her right mind ever want to fly? By that figure, a racecar driver or the guy they shoot out of a canon would have less of a chance of fatality.

  Help-Convincing JW's to doubt their anti x-mas

  i've been busy attending graduate school, recovering from surgery and my child's strep throat; but i managed to survive.

  i need help explaining to my mama (jw-but not attending meetings) that it's okay to celebrate x-mas.

  how do i start with the explanation?

  There was a Tower article some time back that was posted on this board and pertaining to things of pagan origin and what the proper Christian viewpoint should be.

  I think the subject was wall decorations, pagan wallpaper patterns of all things if I remember correctly. Anyway, the point of the article was to the effect that is was not important what the origin of said decorations were but rather how it is perceived in the local community. The jist was that it didnt matter if it was somehow linked to false worship long ago, but rather what it means now to the local community. One poster used this argument to quite effectively debunk the anti-Xmass sentiments put forward by the Tower, this may work for you.

  Sorry I dont remember the poster or the exact subject line but I would use the boards search function and try looking under Christmas or Xmass etc.

  Im a sr. systems engineer and I get paid to play with the air traffic control system in a city that is now missing two really big buildings thanks to some nut cases that wanted to hang out with 70 virgins and see Allah up real close. Mostly its a boring job, so I surf the net all day but once in a while my day is punctuated with moments of sheer terror when the systems goes down. I have a blanket and pillow for when the boredom gets to be too much, and a clean change of underwear for the other times.

  I knew whom you were talking about Iron, but they do have very valid point, namely that it is after all still just a theory.

  However what they generally fail to understand is that another theorys with almost that much supporting data makes it possible to power submarines, generate megawatts of clean electricity, and make really cool mushroom clouds too. LOL

  i was flying back from indiana today, another stressed-filled factory installation - it was goregous and i was pondering as i stared out the window at the earth passing by.

  and i was thinking about what i used to tell the other sisters when i was a regular pioneer when they asked me how i felt about higher education.. i would say, "where would you rather be when armageddon came - out in field service or sitting in some dingy college classroom".

  i really believed that at the age of 18.. and then i would go scrub toilets in office buildings in the middle of the night to put gas in the car while my mind stagnated.

  sometimes, the gender of a poster is relatively easy to deduce due to their style of posting, and, dare i say it, their choice of vocabulatory.

  but sometimes it is difficult to know if you are "talking" to a man or a woman (or homosexual).

  I'm pretty sure Im a guy. I wear guy type clothing, like guy type stuff, beer is my beverage of choice, the wife complains when I dont put my dirty clothing in the hamper, and the kids call me dad. Yep, Im a guy alright.
