i discovered a major security flaw on the silentlambs website, i e-mailed bill about it, setup up a small demonstration, mind you i told no one else about this.

and the demonstration was benine, because this flaw could allow someone to forward the site to say porn sights.

i won't go into detail, but let's just say i could cause alot of havoc with it.

I like your approach however I fear the rift may be to wide at this point and its hard for people to back down after a certain point. I happen to know for a fact that Bill Bowen has/had something that needed to be done and that TH is well qualified to do it but Bill specifically did not ask TH to do it because he was concerned that TH had enough to worry about because of his employment status.

Siege mentality is what I see going on here, and that is to bad because it replaces coherent thought. I only wish I could sit RevMal, Trauma, and Bill down and get you guys shit-faced and maybe we could all have a good laugh over this. And if that didnt work, maybe Hawkaw and me could get blasted, sit on the side and watch you guys beat the shit out of each other while we laugh our asses off until we puke. J

I dont want to get all mushy or anything, but most of us were JWs at one time and many of us sacrificed a lot because of this and we stayed JWs until we saw the light, largely because we wanted to do the right thing. What Im saying is that within the X-JW community are probably some pretty good people. I dont really know you folks and you dont really know me, but based on what I do know about X-JWs, I would say the odds are you are all pretty much OK.

Just something to think about as you decide if you want to work things out with each other or not. The choice is yours and the ball is in your court.

Hear we go again, me thinks I'm about to shoot myself in the foot again.

I keep coming closer and closer to exposing who I am IRL (by my own doing) because I care less and less about remaining anonymous as I feel my time is short and it is only a short time before I get DF/DA anyway.

For the sake of clearing some things up and because I'm almost at the point that I dont give a damn who knows my real identity, Im posting this brief synopsis about myself so you will understand why I believe what I believe to be true and what makes me more knowledgeable about this matter then most folks. Here is my background:

I authored the US Treasurys system administrators day-to-day computer security manual currently in use at the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (ATF).

I have tested the security of the Department Of Justice massive data centers.

I have tested the security of numerous NASA related systems including those that control space craft.

Based on my findings, changes were made in many systems NASA wide also my findings have now become part of the official Congressional record.

I have created security and contingency plans for five NASA data centers.

I have worked undercover for the federal government and have been a member of no less then five top hacker groups, including one sponsored in part by the KGB.

I have had the FBIs head of covert operations sipping coffee in my living room and trying to recruit me to work undercover for his agency.

I have been an invited speaker of the Computer Security Institute.

I have been an invited speaker of the Surveillance Expo.

I have lectured at the largest and most important US intelligence agency, the National Security Agency.

That is my unique background / qualifications, which some Elders are familiar with and could expose me, so be it. Im hopeful that this disclosure adds weight to the views I will next express.

Now that everything is on the table, I say this:

Mr. Bowens site had a measurable level of security before a finite date; and the security level of that site has been reduced considerably after that date.

Who or what changed it from what it was?

Since I do not have ALL the facts I cant / wont say, further since I dont have ALL the facts and dont have the ability to read peoples hearts I cant / wont say if such changes were deliberate and malicious or sloppy / stupid and accidental, however there were a number of security holes introduced into the site that were not there before the aforementioned date.

And no Im not providing this date to anyone so dont ask.

If some posters assume that they are being accused by me, they are incorrect; I dont have enough data to publicly accuse anyone, and besides I dont do that, its not my style.

Unlike some others, I do have a technical background and education to know enough to know that I simply dont know enough to start pointing fingers Edited to add the words: (did I really just say that J ) . People who dont have enough familiarly with the technical issue of security are afraid of it and make statements that are better not said because they hurt and alienate people unnecessarily in the process.

Mr. Bowen's cause is one that I support.

I for one have the ability to separate and uncouple Mr. Bowen from the cause he represents, and I am generally an extremely tolerant person. However I hope I will not be foolish enough to abandon Mr. Bowen or his cause should I get caught up in all of this ill will that seems to be running rampant.

Despite his faults, Mr. Bowen is a genuinely good man, and yes that is my opinion but I believe this to be true, and even if I dont agree with the way Mr. Bowen has handled some issues or people, I still genuinely hold this man in high regard.

The cause is too important to allow the imperfections of one man or the hurt feelings of any person to stop it. I dont know how to fix the rift that has developed between some people and Mr. Bowen and I am saddened that it has developed and continues to grow even at this late date.

I just offer some information to help explain why I think some things are the way they are and hope that cooler heads on all sides of the issue will prevail.

And I know a good number of persons on this forum have abandoned anything even remotely Biblical, but for any that may find some wisdom in these words, here they are:

I hesitate to make this post but perhaps I better before this gets to far out of hand.

Fist let me state Im not going to take sides between Bill Bowen and anyone else however I do have some information that may explain things. In particular, I will tell you why I believe Mr. Bowen or an administrator working in his behalf would be so quick to shut off access from anyone even remotely connected with causing problems on the Silent Lambs web site.

Yes Trauma, I understand you were genuinely trying to help. Finding security holes and reporting them is what I did for a living for many many years, so I understand exactly what you are saying and yes you did a good and positive thing. However not everyone understands the difference between a benign test to uncover an existing hole, or someone possibly causing a problem. A LOT of things have happened behind the scenes that most are unaware of.

That said; hear are some salient facts that may explain things:

Mr. Bowen has had the security of his site greatly compromised.

Many basic security features of his site were turned off by someone.

Mr. Bowens site has had backdoors planted on his site and he is not sure if they have all been removed.

Mr. Bowen believes he has been betrayed by a person or persons that he trusted, (there is quite a bit of supporting evidence).

Mr. Bowen is under tremendous pressure right now.

I'm not going to get into a debate bashing or defending Bill Bowen and I'm not going to elaborate any further or name any individuals involved in the compromise of the Silent Lambs web site, this person or persons know who he/she or they are, and so do I/we.

Yes Maryland is quite large. It is considered a suburb of Washington DC. Some areas are quite beautiful, other are not. It has farmlands, a large industrial harbor in Baltimore, as well as highly populated areas employing federal government workers (oxymoron unintended). Some of the more notable installations (at least to me) are the National Security Agency, located in Fort Mead MD, NASAs Goddard Space Flight Center located in Green Belt MD, and the University of Maryland. I lived and worked there for a number of years. Watch your speed as you drive through, the police are equipped with excellent radar/laser traffic speed enforcement equipment. Freeman

The book is not lost for you obviously found it.

Remember i t is just as valid as the other books of the Bible are except for the fact that the Catholic Church did not approve it. In jw terms think of it as not being on the approved list of Bible fractions.

What I find most interesting is that the Bible cannon, that is to say the accepted books of the Bible were more or less given their legitimacy by the Catholic Church. Yes the same Catholic Church that the JWs brand as a whore. Since the church will not approve it, I Pope Freeman will... The First Book of Adam and Eve is now part of the Bible, let it be said, so let it be done.

Very good links reborn, I always find your posts tend to make me think, however my point was not about the virtues of the Electoral College or lack of its merits, (I share the same view as you, lets get rid of it!) my point is about how often I hear people parroting these negative phrases about Bush, without really thinking about what they are saying. I am guilty too.

For a fact he does bring much criticisms upon himself because he has totally mangled the English language beyond repair, however beyond that he is far from an idiot if one were to consider his accomplishments.

I have only attended state colleges so I cant correctly gauge the difficultly in obtaining advanced degrees from Yale or Harvard, such as Bush has, but my workmate who holds two advanced degrees, one from a prestigious university, has informed me of just what an accomplishment this truly is. I take him at his word when he tells me that completing a Masters program from Harvard is quite different from state college, and is quite a significant accomplishment to say the least.

That was my only point. I dont necessarily agree with Bush politically, and I certainly think its time to retire the Electoral College system as it has long past its usefulness.

I just find it disturbing when I hear obviously very smart people parroting things without really thinking about what they are saying. Im guilty of it myself at times, but these days I tend to analyze things more then I once did, maybe too much. You see I was taken in by a cult and it robbed me of both years and family ties that I can never get back, so now I trust nothing, I examine everything I hear or read because if I could be so wrong about something so important, I could be wrong about almost anything.

Sorry for the length of this post, saying more then I intended to say, obviously Im not quite healed yet.
