hey all!.

a couple of days ago, i posted a thread about jws and higher education.

that question was regarding jws who finished high school.. now, my question is this for both jws and xjws alike: are there any jws who before converting did have a college education (4 year bachelors, master or phd) that you know or met?.

You miss the point Ajax. It matters not what our station in life is. The most important thing is that when we realize what is at stake, we must put our needs and wants on hold for the sake of the Kingdom. Better to make it into God’s Kingdom as a janitor, then into Gahanna as a PHD. Remember, the time is so very short; any day now Ajax, any day now! ;-)

Sorry, just my crude attempt at humor. It is indeed as you point out a double standard. It’s always a shame when for lack of an education a person is stuck on the lower end of the pay scale with little chance of advancement.

But with the false hope of it getting better “any day now” being drummed into their heads, you can’t blame parents too much. After all, they are victims of the false and unfulfilled promises of the WTBTS too.

need help finding a story

i'm looking for the news article from july or august of 2001 that listed the wts as one of the top 25 companies in nyc.

i forget where i read this, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

i'm sick and tired of hearing things from uptight-short-sighted-narrow minded hypocritics.

Based on income and holdings, the Watch Tower is indeed up there with the big boys like Donald Trump etc. I do remember something being said about that, however I’m not so sure if it was in a news article or just the observation of a poster. Either way, they are filthy rich and unlike other churches or even Trump; they give zero back to the community.

blood cards for assembly entrance?

in a recent post someone mentioned that at an assembly or convention in the u.k. they would not let him in until he showed either a blood card or convention badge.

the person then named some elders he knew and was finally allowed in.

is this typical at u.k. conventions?

I can’t remember all details, but I do remember having to show my blood card at an assembly before I received a newly released book. I want to say this was at Yankee Stadium, but I’m not totally sure about that.

You are right Joel, that was a dumb question, but thanks for asking it. Of course everyone believes there must be proof before someone can be considered guilty and punished, that is why we have courts of law. The problem here is that the Watch Tower does nothing to protect the child before guilt is established and little even after it is established. Protection of the child is not their priority, their priority is protection of the organization, and everything else is secondary to that. THAT’S THE PROBLEM JOEL!

Will you be safe in a Kingdom Hall or perhaps having a fine share in the field ministry when the great battle begins or will you be foolishly engaged in Internet activity? The wise and mature Christian heeds the warning of the “slave” and will know what to do.

part 1. i thought it might be advantageous to discuss effective ways of getting someone out of the borg and to dispel some myths we might be entertaining about beliefs and changing them.

in this thread i was hoping to start a discussion about the sociology of the witness belief system and how this can be used to help people escape from the mental trap they have found themselves in.

the first outside book i ever read about jws was in the late 1970s by james beckford.

Skip: Good points, but I wish I were as patient as you suggest, and would have taken baby steps with my wife.

Unfortunately, my utter contempt for the Borg has caused me to project to my wife in time-compressed-format, (fast, loud, and nasty) the litany of crimes committed by the WTBTS. In retrospect, I believe the double-barrel in your face method was not the best approach.

I wish I knew of someway to start anew so I could use a more delicate approach. My fear is that my previous error would negate any new attempt I tried. Any suggestions?
