  Very good post. That material blows the doors off the whole blood issue, however getting past the JW mental barriers still presents a challenge. I successfully used the twin-to-twin transfusion info to take the wind out of the sails of my wife’s PO a few months ago. He had no idea and suggested that I write the boys in Brooklyn as this could change the blood policy.

  I thought to myself as he said this ‘Oh sure right! I can see it now, Brother Inactive shows Faithful And Discreet Slave New Light on blood’.

  Anyway, your info is excellent and thank you for posting it, however please don’t be to disappointed if it does not penetrate, it’s not you; JWs are pretty thick and it’s hard to get past the programming. By now I’m sure the JW programming has kicked in and my wife’s PO has totally forgotten what we even talked about.

  Good points. Along those lines I find the rank and file witnesses theology to be extremely thin, as if they are indeed just playing a role. If you ask them questions from a pool of possible subjects they have rehearsed, they can provide answers to these questions that sound logical to the average man on the street. They can even back these answers up by what amounts to jumping from verse-to-verse using passages often out of context. I call this technique Biblical hopscotch, (not sure who coined the phrase, but I like it).

  If you ever ask them something that is not from the pool of questions that they have answers to, or force them to stay on subject long enough and keep asking for in depth answers, they are in trouble. Very few will stand toe-to-toe with you because as you said, they are playing a role. Just for fun, try and get anyone of them to explain the current blood policy in Biblical terms, not a one among them can explain why fractions are OK and whole blood is not. Its kind of fun (in a sadistic way) watching them squirm as they fumble looking for a pre-made answer. Come to think of it, not only are the rank and file without depth, so are the leaders too. I made my wife’s PO squirm over the blood policy too. Poor guy.

  Will you go to the memorial

  i have never missed a memorial in 20 years of being a jw, but this year will be the first one i miss because i refuse to set foot in any kingdom hall.

  i was wondering how many that post here will attend the memorial and if so why?.

  do you feel pressured into going by family or friends?.

  When you think about, immortality is really just a further step, perhaps the next step, in our own evolution. As we have seen, natural selection has been a very powerful proponent of change, and now, its highly refined end product, namely the “human mind”, seems poised to advance evolution a quantum leap forward using gene manipulation technology. This will be an advance much further than simple natural selection could have done working at the biological level alone. Exciting times we live in, wouldn’t you say?

  You treat this as good news but it is not!

  What if because of this they find a way to extend life indefinitely, then what? All the generations that died so as to prove the Devil a lying bastard would be for nothing. And what about the ransom sacrifice of Jesus, that would become worthless too, would it not? In fact what would we even need God at all for?

  You selfish bastards! You tell your Chinese-commie scientists to stop trying to extend life, that Gods job. He’ll straighten things out when he is good and ready; any day now, any day now.

  i hope you all find this interesting, because to me it only gets more intriguing and weird for the 3 12 years following january 1992... moment of decision: i can point back to the mountain top visit with god, or maybe today i might call it a visit with my higher power, whomever she/he/it might be.

  To bad the Watch Tower doesn’t play on the same level playing field that they ask the rest of the world to play on. It would not be much of a stretch for most fair-minded people to conclude that some of the Watch Towers own actions are a form of persecution. One such action is in providing free and unlimited legal services to witness parents in a child custody case.

  Consider this: When a huge publishing conglomerate such as the Watch Tower, with an army of lawyers pits itself against a parent in a child custody case, the non-witness parent can and will at some point be drained financially. However, the witness parent who receives free and unlimited legal resources may continue on with appeal after appeal unabated until the non-witness parent is just unable to continue. Not exactly fair is it? But then when has the Watch Tower known fairness except when seeking it for themselves?

  i knew for the past couple of years that my uncle in mobile was dying of cancer.

  well, the last time my mother and i talked (around october i think)she said, "well, we were in mobile all last weekend for uncle *****'s funeral".

  I agree with #1, #2 and #3 are changes that should be made. I’m not sure what changes will be made in the future but I’m absolutely convinced Watch Tower policy will be changed. And in no small measure it will have changed because of you Bill. We know you are not alone in these efforts, there are others working for this change, but you are the front man Bill, and I’m sure you never expected to be, did you? Life is full of surprises.

  Not to get off subject but, isn’t it true that some people are placed in circumstances where they can make a difference, but they never do? And then there are other people that have a willing spirit, but are never afforded the opportunity. And then every once in a while, there is someone like Bill. Bill was given the opportunity to make a difference and he had a willing sprit to do so. I know he will say that the silent lambs themselves deserve the praise and that is true, but they are not the only ones; his sacrifices have not gone unnoticed. I know you didn’t start this thread to get a pat on the back Bill, but I’m giving you one anyway. Keep up the good work.
