I've had a chance to think about it, now. Maybe I've softened with time or something because last night the Mrs. was watching 'Raising Helen' when I came in from work. I sat down and >gasp< enjoyed it. It could be because of the scene where Kate Hudson and Joan Cusack go and get the teenage girl (save the cheerleader, save the world) out of the hotel she went to after prom. Joan Cusack breaks the chain lock, sends the girl out to the car and then berates the boyfriend. She then walks away and stops and returns to the boyfriend and tells him, "You're not a bad person. You've just made bad choices." That is sooo how Mrs. Eagle would be in that situation, that I had to laugh.

Another response from email I sent out on Andersons story
by purplesofa insome of what i have recieved i cannot post here.
that part i cannot post is alot of bantering back and forth at a private jw message board......i do not get all the posters responses to my email address.. but there is a big deal going on with a posters response to the story, agreeing with the email i sent out.
obviously, they are saying the email i sent was from an apostate so since he agreed with some of it, he asked the board if they thought he was apostate too?

I'm not trying to make excuses for your contact but I can see where an anonymous and perceivably antagonistic e-mail would make them upset. I get ticked when spammers get into my work e-mail and send stuff that doesn't belong there. I often ignore what is sent and focus my hostility on the sender, fwiw. Do you think the response would be different if he realized it came from someone he knew?

First date with the future Mrs. Eagle 'The Doctor' with William Hurt. A truly forgettable waste of celluloid. The chaperone called me thoughtful afterward because I provided them both with napkins when part of the movie made them cry. Almost. The napkins were for the greasy popcorn.

Donald Duck doesn't wear pants. But when he comes out of a shower, he always has a towel around him? Discuss.
I'll take a gander at the next DD cartoon that comes on the tube.

YHWH and the Tinkerbell Effect
by Satanus ina common theme among theists, is the accompanying veiled threat, that if you don't believe in their god as they do, there will be dire consequences.
it could be hellfire torment, separation of some kind, or nonexistence.
w tinkerbell, it was not the nonbelieving kid that would suffer, but, tinkerbell herself.

It's an interesting premise. As a theist who would never use threats, coercion or even begging to try and get anyone to think like me, let me put this out there: What happens to Tinkerbell when the cast is rehearsing the play and there are no children in the audience to clap?

Watched TV evangelists for the first time today
by shopaholic ini was flipping through the channels while doing cardio and i decided to hear what a couple of these people had to say.
while i've determined that i'm agnostic, this one guy was pretty good...he was practical and funny.
he made the bible seem more like a good self-help book than a "book laws to be obeyed or else you'll die".

Robin Williams had the best take on Earnest Angsley which was very close to what Worldtraveller said, "It look like a small animal crawled on his head and died." When he got going he would imitate his mannerisms, "And now-uh we will-uh contrast and compare-uh Jesus and Spiderman-uh."
I really like Joel Osteen but sometimes he is so gung ho cheery he seemd like a combination of Chris Farley as Matt Foley and Mr. Rogers.
John Hagee used to be good to watch, imo. He was like a C.O. or D.O. that was really fired up on eschatological stuff. I got ticked off when I found out he was on the board at ORU during Richard Robert's reign, I'm glad that dorkbag is gone.
Joyce Meyers writes a decent book, according to Mrs. Eagle, but to see her on the tube reminds me of a pissed off P.O.'s wife.
Ahhh Gene Scott, someone made the comment that he was best when the watcher was partaking of the herb. I wouldn't know about that, but I loved watching him translating and explaining contexts.
Grandma always had Robert Schuller going on Sunday morning, she liked his positive take on things. Max Lucado had nothing nice to say about his preaching style in his book 'Hard to Believe'. It's just not the same when his son is on the pulpit.
Perry Stone is enjoyable when he uses props to explain the way the judaic priests worked. I never put the slaying of Goliath and burial of his head in Jerusalem together with the crucifixion of Jesus at Golgotha before watching Stone. It was probably covered in a wt article at some point when I fell asleep in the kh, though.
