Can we get to know each other now?
by waiting ini've picked up a little about each of us on the db, but we're a reclusive little group, aren't we?.
well, my picture won't be going up any time soon, but i'll put out some personal information and hopefully others will too.
makes chatting more fun, don't you think?.

Seven,
While we Cajuns are distrustful of Yankees I can't imagine YOU not being welcome anywere.
I've often wondered why the Cajuns are so fun-loving. It's not that they are carefree because as a rule (although I know a few who are the exception!) they are hard working people. I guess it's because life for them was so hard that they took pleasure whenever and however they could.
By the way, what is you aunt's name and when was that party? I may have been that boy! --Just kidding!

Mais, oui, ma cherie. Ca c'est tres bon!
(Yes, dearest, that is very good!)That's not only a phrase but a philosophy of life where I come from. The Cajuns are always looking for a good time. They have joy of life that is difficult to describe, very intense. They were driven from their homes and displaced in a very hostile environment (the Lousiana swamps) and instead of perishing they dug in and held on to their culture. --And all of this without government aid OR affirmative action!

VISION OF THE NIGHT
by Frenchy inhave you ever longed for something so much that you dared not reach for it lest you realize that it was unattainable?
for as long as you did not actually reach out for it you could always delude yourself into believing that if you really wanted to you could have it.
but once you reached for it and found it unattainable, well then you would lose that precious fantasy.

My Journey
by Frenchy ini suppose we all think of ourselves as unique and we are in so many ways.
what i fail to realize, i guess, is that we are far more alike than unique.
every now and then i will reveal some little fear or quirk or dream that i have only to find out that someone else has experienced the same thing!

(cont'd from above)
The same problem exists for me when I’m on the platform giving a public talk or a part on the school or the service meeting or conducting the WT study or the book study. What do I do when I have to present material that I don’t believe in? I feel like a hypocrite and rightly so, I believe. YET, if I say what I believe then that’s not fair to the faith either, is it? I mean it’s THEIR show, THEIR name is on the letterhead. I identify myself as one subscribing to that system of beliefs. How can I be selective in what I will believe and still be called one of Jehovah’s Witnesses? How can I deny PART of my faith without it collapsing, ‘a house divided against itself…”. How can I keep what I love and leave what I have come to hate? What do I become then? And so these dilemmas continue to plague me. I feel that I should be doing something but ‘what?’ I ask myself. Sometimes I get very angry at myself for allowing myself to be so completely duped. Sometimes I wonder if perhaps the problem is not with me. Has Jehovah removed his spirit from me and thus is no longer allowing me to see HIS organization? Am I now being deceived by the devil? Have I left ‘THE TRUTH!’ or am I just now realizing that it was all a pipe dream? I pray and pray and pray and I’m getting nothing back. Has God abandoned me? Was he ever with me? There were times when I felt that he was but now I feel nothing at all unless it's despair.
Perhaps a false hope is better than no hope.

Pleasantville
by waiting inon h20, someone commented on this movie as an insight on how we, as jw's look at the world and the problems of trying to change that looking.. i had seen the movie last year - i thought it was going to be a comedy - it wasn't.
but i didn't tie anything to it.
naturally, i didn't apply it to myself.. but this guy is right - i'm going to watch it again.

Payback with Mel Gibson
by waiting init's r rated and rough in the beginning.
dark humor usually appeals to me, however.. i rented this long before i discovered the web, so i wasn't influenced by my computer.. i swear one of the movie writers had to be an xjw.
notice that when gibson goes against organized crime - their headquarters is in a big beautiful, out of place hotel.

I liked that movie too, waiting. How did you like 'Ransom'?
