My Bible Study

i have two bible studies at present.

one of these is an xmormon.

he has been out of the lds for over a year now.

I had a run in with Mormons several years ago. We had a group discussion. Me on one side and four of them on the other. I can tell you right off you have nothing to fear from their 'knowledge' of the Bible. Two of those guys were 'elders' and addressed themselves as so. It was my experience there that they knew precious little of the Bible but I got the impression that they knew a whole lot about theirdoctrine and that they had a lotof literature to read.

Our agreement to the discussion had been to stay strictly with the Bible and I had a lot of fun. I'm not saying they're alllike that, but those four knew very little.

i've picked up a little about each of us on the db, but we're a reclusive little group, aren't we?.

well, my picture won't be going up any time soon, but i'll put out some personal information and hopefully others will too.

A note to my elder 'friends'

but those days are over my 'friends,' because there are many who talk to me anyway in spite of what you've said.

Dear George,

The people on this board are not afraid to talk about almost anything. The difference between this board and H20 is that there is no hostility here. We ain't mad at nobody! We prefer to discuss things in a civilized manner and with due respect for each other. We are not on a campaign of any sort, we're just trying to sort things out. No one here presumes to have all the answers but we do help each other out. Sometimes all we can do is listen. That works too. Some of us here have been hurt very deeply but we are trying very hard to interact with others. That speaks volumes for our spirit and character. Again, we have respect for each other.

In short, we have found that we can disagree without being disagreeable. Please be friendly and we will try our very best to reciprocate.

What Has Happened To Us?

a few months ago during the elders' meeting with the c.o.

i could not help but express myself to him when the subject of meeting attendance came up.

now this is a nice guy as far as c.o.

Thank you, Lark, for your input. It's nice to have you on board. You're correct when you say that the elders are busy. This is especially true in the smaller congregations where there may be only two or three elders there and most of the time there is only one that can really do it all and he ends up getting overloaded.

I think the publishers could be more considerate at times by helping those brothers with some of the chores around the hall like cutting the grass and maintaining the hall. Remember they are expected to take their turn cutting the grass and paintin the hall, and general maintenance. For some this is a great burden on top of everything else.

The other side of the coin is that they are volunteers for the job. When it gets to be too much, they should walk away. The family comes first and foremost and should neverbe neglected.

I look forward to hearing more from you.

i came to this forum to maybe get you to think and use your own brains.......but the funny thing is you are........i just wonder why you stay in name only when so many of you are not likeing it, and dont believe anymore or dont believe all of it, what keeps you going when you dislike it so much?.are you afraid of loseing family?

what?........i walked away and believe me its not bad at all..i have friends that are true to me and peace within my heart.

Yes, I agree. I believe that a religion should be a road to God, not the gate blocking entry to him.

waiting, I agree with the ideas expressed here about how organizations grow. I've often stated similar observations on other posts. I think that most religions start out with the right intent, i.e. to lead or direct people to God, or at the very least, provide a platform condusive to the worship of God. In time the religion grows and after a while it recognizes itself as an entity and then it must from that time forward, perpetuate itself. It finds it necessary to justify it's existence and wants recognition as an entity and then one day it realizes that it is after something else: POWER It wants control (power) over as many as it can. Soon it is demanding reverance and allegiance (most of the time it's called loyalty but it's the same thing, isn't it?) for itself. At that time it ceases to be a vessel for God but has now made itself a God in that it is asking for itself what belongs to God exclusively. Oh, it still uses God as a smoke screen to get this allegiance but it now wants the worship for itself. I believe someone else, a very long time ago, fell into the same trap on a little piece of real estate called the Garden of Eden.

...attain unanimous support from his creation of free moral agents?

from the majority at least.. apparently according to the wt interpretation of god's own book...a prominent spirit creature who made himself satan became unsatisfied and left god.later untold numbers would join the devil.. now the only solution for the future of these 'rebels' would be for god to destroy them.. then the very first human creatures apparently also felt unsatisfied and withdrew from god.they got destroyed.. later god had to confuse the language of all humans because they were unanimously opposed to god.

those people too are history.. then god had an ark built because all flesh had left god's way except for a handful of people.. evidently god was not expecting any great number to actually join noah, otherwise god would have had noah build several arks!

Do you feel the WTS has knowledge over and above any other belief system?

Since so many of their published beliefs have proven to be wrong over the years I would have to answer no. I'm not trying to be harsh here but I am trying to be completely honest.
