  dear friends,.

  much of what we do on a daily basis is routine and of no particular, earth-shaking importance.

  however, after reviewing letters of family going back to wwii, it is fascinating to read what dad was doing on board the aircraft carrier in the pacific on any old day, what mom was cooking on her ever-steaming range, how i was dealing with the roller coaster of emotion at bethel [mom saved all my letters], how nana wrote that she would not study with the witnesses [per my request] but 'here are some mittens i knitted for you when you canvass new york with your magazines.

  Hi everyone. Can I post here, too? I just saw the thread for the first time and looks like its been going awhile.

  Estee, I used to go to dance studio, too. Actually several of them. And its ALWAYS and imbalanced ratio of many more women than men.

  But most of the studios have a bonus for participants like if you bring in a new person for the party night you get points. Usually you get like a free dance lesson for 3 points. Or sometimes you bring in a new person to sign up for 3 free dance lessons. Maybe you can find some single men friends...or maybe your husband can....and bring them in.

  144,000 resurrected BEFORE Jesus rose?

  according to matthew 27:52-53.

  (this occurred during the time when jesus was being crucified).

  "and the memorial tombs were opened and many bodies of the holy ones that had fallen asleep were raised up, (and persons coming out from among the memorial tombs after his being raised up, entered into the holy city,) and they became visible to many people.".

  They were resurrected physically and mechanically because of this earthquake but still dead of course. Jewish custom required that they be prepared for re-burial so they went into the holy city and appeared unto many. Who carried them and how is not stated. But it was just hours before a great Sabbath so this had to be done quickly.

  so Joseph, are you saying it is like in the past times when New Orleans flooded and the caskets have come above ground and some even floated into the city streets?

  53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection,

  the placement and words of this verse seem out of sync. Jesus does not get buried until further in the chapter. It seems, if you follow the timeline according to placement of the scriptures, that this event occurred just after the moment that Jesus "gave up his spirit." According to scripture, the dead rose before christ was even buried.

  Insects on the ark?

  some people in my brother's and sister-in-law's cong are putting on a play about noah's ark, and want all the children in the hall to participate, including my nieces and nephew.

  they're really going all out with this, costumes, face paint, etc.

  i see a tony award in the future!

  The 144,000 otoh are specific to Revelation

  I dont know what "otoh" means....but the 144,000 is not specific to revelation. The 144,000 are also mentioned in the old testament. It might take me some time to look it up for proof. Maybe someone else knows where to find it in OT?

  i recently learned that the meaning of the word "paradise" comes from the persian language and means: walled garden.

  funny thing is, ive been taught from infancy that the word simply meant "garden", which sounds lovely and desirable.

  we had a big time honcho do a talk today ( i cannot give the details ).

  after the meeting elder a&%&$ was going around and to me also to ask for donations to this fella!!!.

  Instead of green handshake, when you know they are coming, why not be prepared in case you are asked. Have your box of "hurricane" goodies on the back seat. Let it be known publicly when you give it so other newbies can be aware of what is expected.

  Give 'em quick mac and cheese and some tuna, and pork rinds.

  After all, you don't want them buying beer and stuff with contributions.

  i just had to send a letter to the editor (see my next post) after the waynesville, north carolina local newspaper published this lovely little puff piece about jehovah's witnesses.. the last parts about blood transfusion and the "loving practice" of disfellowshipping were so absurd!.

  Those raised at the time of Jesus' death were likely some recently buried, people recognizable by those still living who now had a chance to receive holy spirit at Pentecost, but would then die later on after that.

  JC that epistle of yours is so totally made up by your over active imagination.

  You do not support any of those "ideas" with scripture.

  And this last statement that those resurrected hung out until pentecost, is NOT what the scripture says. The scripture, if you bother to read the Bible instead of your own "world according to garth' version.....

  Generally, this is thought of as a temporary resurrection and that they would later die of old age, etc.

  says they entered the holy city. They did not wander the earth to die twice to die again. This is such absurdity.

  mine is a hamburger cooked medium well with fresh home grown tomato, lettuce, purple onion, mustard and mayo...no ketchup...kosher pickle on the side.. the bun must be toasted and preferably either sesame seed or poppy seed.
