just saw the news here this evening in the uk.
mr porter who was in the news a few weeks ago who was convicted of crimes against children in his care, now living in london but formally from the bristol area has had his case looked at again and is on his way to jail for an 18 month sentence.. sorry guys dont know how to do the link thingy but it will be on the bbc webpage as it was the bbc i was watching.. now that's what i call "good news".

He will not have a good time in prison. If he chooses to be segregated from the main prison population as a sex offender (and he'd be mad not to) then the other offenders will give him a hard time as a "witness". It's quite possible that he'll have to serve the whole time sentanced as he will be involved in trouble designed to keep him in from the other inmates.

is it me or do the rest of you notice a tremendous increase in newbies in the last couple of months ?
what a cool thing to know that these dear new friends of ours have a place to turn to for help, venting, posting their feelings on life and what they have been through and are going through in regards to anything in life.
Hi I am a relative newbie but unfortunatly don't get as much time as i would like to read stuff and post.
BUT I really like what I'm reading and have come to realize that there is a huge group of ex dubs that are accepting of me for who I really am, not what I am attempting to be (new personality/clone)
To cast off the shackles is such a relief I used to spend so much time looking over my shoulder worrying that someone would report me to the "E"s now I truly have no fear of the future, what will happen will happen.
So thank you for your welcome and sharing of yourselves online, it means so much to one who thought he was alone.
All of my imprisonment within an organization has helped me to see now that I can and will respect and accept everyone as friends whatever their belief system, now I am FREE.
I feel more of a kinship with you guys than I ever did while part of that org.
So again Thanks and don't ever stop being who you really are as that is far more worth than being a Fake!

my mom and dad were helping me with an outdoor project at home, and my df's son stopped by.
i knew he was in the area and told him to stop by.
That sounds so hard to take, my parents embaress me often but not like that. I have no kids but my parents judgemental attitude towards others is horrible and I hate it.
They cannot understand that we all have a right to believe whatever we want to and it's our choice not theirs.

Its what finally did it for me about 8 yrs ago.
During a public talk an elder painted the picture of a post armageddon world and it made me think. Those that were left were rushing about like god permitted looters, going around all these dead bodies men, women, children and babies all executed for not loving god and the survivors picking through the best of what was left.
I knew of brothers who had already decided which house they were going to have afterwards and what they were going to have in them (swiming pools mainly).
Sitting in a congregation waiting for the end all these people to die in most cases violently at the hand of a "loving god" hoping it would be soon so they (the congregation) could pick up the pieces.
I asked what about those who are innocent, the little ones? the answer is that of course its the parents fault so don't worry.
Any one out there thinking of leaving it takes alot of guts, but it's worth it.
I only wish I'd done it sooner but at least I did it!
