Saw it last night with some friends and while I did enjoy it, on the whole I was a bit disappointed. Having seen the director's previous films, I was expecting some sort of extra punch at the end, but it just never came. I suppose that's my fault for reading too much into the movie.
In a way, it reminded me of much of Stephen King's writing...the journey to the end is absolutely awesome, but the ending itself always leaves something to be desired. King has got an amazing way with a story that makes you keep hanging on, wanting to know what happens, but his conclusions usually fall flat. That's the way this movie felt to me.
Having said that, I did nearly soil myself about six times so I guess I got my money's worth. LOL!

Not much planned here. I'll probably kick back and watch "Coupling" on BBC America then play a bit of Everquest before hitting the sack.
Yes, things are exciting here. LOL!

I was lucky enough to get to see Goldmember last weekend. Honestly, I don't think I've ever gotten as much enjoyment out of $4.50!

Syn,
Was Mothman really that good? I saw some of the previews and thought that it looked interesting, but word of mouth killed it at the box office.
At any rate, it would have to be miles better than that hideous piece of dog mess Gere just recently starred in, Unfaithful.

I am as excited as I can be about this one. I saw a trailer online about six or eight months ago...hadn't even heard of the movie at that point. It scared the hell out of me and I've been waiting on pins and needles since then.
Love a good scary movie!

December 31, 1985: Rock 'n roll singer Rick Nelson (45), five members of his Stone Canyon band, and his fiance were killed when a fire broke out on board a DC-3 taking them to a New Year's Eve performance in Dallas, Texas. Two people survived the crash landing near DeKalb, Texas. The fire was caused by a malfunctioning heater. Nelson was first known as the son of Ozzie and Harriet in their TV show of the late 1950s. He later became famous as the singer of such hits as Travelin' Man and Garden Party.
Don't mean to take this thread over, but I absolutely can not believe that it has been 17 years since Rick Nelson died! I remember being completely devestated when this happened. Then a few days after his death there were all those ugly allegations about whether or not drugs were involved in the crash.
Silly to admit it, but I'm getting a little choked up as I sit here thinking about this. I was 13 at the time and being a JW his type of music was right up my parent's alley, so naturally I was a big fan. So, so sad.

While no one here on Earth would like to see Britney gone more than I would, I don't think sending her up in space is the right choice...
I'm sure that those implants would probably rupture due to the enormous pressure caused by breaking through the atmosphere. To make matters worse, the actual astronauts would probably die from massive silicone poisoning.

Microphone "Handling"
by SYN inwhat is all the fuss about?
when i was still assimilated (i.e.
still in the borg, but wanting out every second of that time), there was so much emphasis put on microphone handling that it was almost unreal.

Syn,
Your hilarious microphone rant made me remember my own, apparently regressed, microphone memories.
When I was at the tender age of about fourteen, I was approached by one of the Elders at the local hall and asked if I wanted to be included in the microphone duties. Now, I've always been a little bit on the nervous side and never had any desire to stand up in front of the entire hall, toting around a five and a half foot pole from person to person. Honestly, the possibility of embarrassment was huge. Suppose you hit someone in the head or tripped over that massive serpentine cord? My mother was having none of my declining this invitation, so I reluctantly began my tour of duty.
I did it a few times and was on pins and needles all the time. It just wasn't my cup of tea, so I began making sure that I never had my suit coat whenever we left for the hall. This worked for a few weeks and I dodged the bullet. Mom was no dummy and caught on soon enough; I'd leave the suit coat in the closet and walk out the door, only to see Mom approaching the car with said coat in hand. I had to come up with something more effective, so I managed to get 'sick' for a few weeks, further delaying the inevitable.
Several weeks later, while at the bookstudy, a couple of the Elders asked if they could speak with me. Any of you who have heard similar comments from the older men in the hall probably have some idea of how terrified I was at that moment. My terror turned to joy shortly as they informed me that new light had indicated that all young men who handled the microphones must be baptized. I tried to look sufficiently devestated, but was thrilled to the gills inside. Truly one of my happiest moments up to that point. LOL!

Spice,
I have to agree...on both counts.
The crowd I saw it with had far more adults than kids and everyone seemed to be enjoying it. I had a blast and can't wait for the DVD, which I hope will have lots of info on how they actually made Scooby come to life.
