i work in downtown fort worth, texas, and i went out for lunch today (benigan's to be exact).
when i finished my lunch and was walking back to my office...lo and behold....witnesses ....with their little blue tags.....everywhere!.
Man, weren't those cheese danishes the absolute best? That used to be the only thing worth looking forward to about the assembly. We also used to get Krispy Kreme donuts before the morning sessions...can still remember sitting there as an eight year old eating donuts and drinking coffee. LOL!

i have always tried to figure out for years what is the reasoning behind the name kingdom hall, any thoughts on this?
Have you guys noticed that recently even they have been referring to it as a 'church' and not a Kingdom Hall? I noticed also on the JW Media site just yesterday that several of the videos they put up in response to the Dateline investigation include the use of 'church' in place of Kingdom Hall.

Seriously though, I was both saddened and angered by the Kingdom Melodies last night. I have such strange emotions about them...music has the power to make us feel so many different emotions, it's no wonder most of us get such strong feelings upon hearing them again. Though many of them were awkward, clunky mind-control dirges some of them had very lovely melodies. Ok, very few of them actually did, but you get my point.

i can't believe that she had the nerve to actually stand up for the fellow in the legal department at headquarters regarding the advice he give to bill bowen.
she told me that he's just an imperfect human.

She told me that he's just an imperfect human. My mouth dropped to the floor! I told her that this man went to the legal department to get advice and that was the best they could do. She said that maybe if he had called and gotten someone else on the phone they might have provided a better answer.
When I called her to get her reactions, I expected to hear her crying, outrage in her voice, but all I got was the standard JW party line..."Jehovah will take care of it in his time and his judgments are worth much more than man's."
Why, oh why are these people in such denial. I was a JW for almost 25 years and I can see through the smoke and mirrors...why can't they?!?
BTW, my heartiest thanks to Bill Bowen, Barbara Anderson and the Pandelos for putting themselves on the line for this cause. My heart goes out to everyone who has been affected by this horrible, horrible situation.

I have to agree with Xander...this show is very much like "Changing Rooms." I had been watching it on BBC America for about a year before I discovered Trading Spaces. I much prefer Changing Rooms, because as Xander said, the designers are so much better at what they're doing. Except for Lawrence....ewwww!!
I do enjoy the heck out of Trading Spaces, though. Like you guys I was horrified at the 'straw' walls. What were they thinking? Loved Laurie's mellow look for her room in the episode where Doug did the 'zen-goth' room in blood-red. That adiptic (sp?) painting turned out very nice...might have to do something like that for my own house.
BTW, I'm also undecided about Doug. He does come off as being very self-absorbed, but I've been informed by more than one of my co-workers this morning that he's "dreamy." LOL!

After having watched that video clip I'm at a complete loss as to how in the world they think this is going to back up their position or help them in any way. If anything it makes them look as if they are in denial.
I don't think, 18 or 20 years ago, we knew much of anything about pedophiles. It wasn't really looked at as a criminal matter. We didn't publicize it as being an act that needed some criminal intervention, so to speak.Forgive my pop-culture reference here, but I remember an episode of "Diff'rent Strokes" that aired in 1983 where Arnold and one of his little friends were visiting with a man who owned a bicycle shop (played by Gordon Jump of "WKRP" fame). He showed them sexually explicit cartoons and attempted to molest them. I can still remember the impact that had on me and I was eleven at the time. I certainly knew that it was an act that needed some criminal intervention, so to speak.
I also didn't need my Mom to tell me that an adult touching me in a 'bad way' was something that was wrong.
Who are these guys fooling?!? I think I'm going to be sick.
