Borgfree,
I'm sure that my answer to your message is going to be seen as a cop out or somehow acquiescing to your point of view, but it's not.
Frankly, after reading a document on their website called "Myths About Homosexuality" I have become so disgusted and downhearted that I have lost all interest in continuing this discussion. It saddens me to think that so much of the hatred, outright lies and exaggeration of the truth that are being propagated by the religious right are being eagerly accepted by the masses as fact.
Also, having just finished a very lengthy debate over homosexuality with ISP, I really don't want to become the board's bleeding heart homosexual. To that end, I'm just not going to get myself further involved in this discussion. I had originally written a response to the comments on their website, but have decided that for the most part it is futile. I'm not going to change your mind about homosexuality and you're not going to be able to change my mind.

Borgfree,
I'm at work on my break right now, so I don't have the time to properly respond as I would like. I'll do my best to do that when I get home this evening.

Borgfree,
I was not misrepresenting The American Family Association or The Concerned Women for America. Both organizations have been founded in part by Tim LaHaye, the co-author of the Left Behind series. The comments re: their beliefs came directly from their website. Follow the links to their sites and see for yourself what they believe in.
As with most other things, your personal application of Christianity might vary from theirs. Not trying to be argumentative, just wanted you to know where I got that information.

Let's hope that it's just temporary due to the influx of new visitors.

A few years back, I purchased a new dining room table and a sofa for the living room. I called the Goodwill to have them pick up the older stuff. When they got to the house, they actually refused to take the items because they stated that the table was missing pieces. It was a small table with only three chairs, not four. They wanted to take the sofa, but I wouldn't let them.
None of the items were in disrepair either, BTW. The sofa was only a few years old, had been given to me and I'd finally purchased a set that matched the room decor. Same with the dining room table.
When they left, I promptly called The Salvation Army and they were more than thrilled to have the items.

Well, I'll admit that when I actually purchased my first non-JW Bible the bookstore threw in a copy of the first Left Behind book. I'd heard much about the books and decided to give it a shot. Here's my unabashed opinion:
It's pablum and propaganda...not even well-written pablum and propaganda.
Not only that, but one of the series' authors Tim LaHaye is one of the most notorious bigots you'll find on God's green earth. He and his wife have formed an organization called "Concerned Women For America" (http://www.cwfa.org). They firmly believe in "traditional" family values and all that go along with it, i.e.; no rights for homosexuals, anti-abortion, etc.
He's also responsible for the Christian lovefest over at The American Family Association (http://www.afa.net). A quick scan of the homepage for this group shows that they consider the inclusion of an HIV+ Muppet is another brick in the wall of the gay agenda or as they put it, "a homosexual ploy."
Sorry, Gravedancer...didn't mean to get off the subject. Guess I got a bit fired up.

SCTV
by Beans infor all of us hosers and many americans in the north sctv was a staple for the basis of our sense of humor.
there were so many great skits and mini series that were memorable to me like dr. tounge and the 3d house of beef and maudlins eleven, the happy wanderers, count floyd, ed grimly, six gun justice man i can go on and on.
but what your favorite and why?.

Thanks for the link, Beans! This brought back some great memories.
My favorite used to be Edith Prickly...lord, but that woman was annoying. If ever there was a candidate for a series to be released on DVD this has to be it.

Doctor Visit Today
by Amazing inwell folks: i had my first follow-up visit, and things are not as good as i was hoping.
essentially, using diet and exercise to try and reverse my clogged arteries is okay for 15 areas which are 50% or less clogged, by 2 of the points are 80% occluded ... and must be treated in a matter of months, or i face death inside a year ... so, i have some time, but not as i hoped.
the two bad occlusions art each at the intersections of main branches ... and either of them would likely kill me if they close up.. the doctor was impressed with my diet changes, lifestyle adjustments, and weight loss and level of recovery ... but the recovery is limited, in that i still have some strong angina with mild exercise, strongly suggesting my heart does not get enough blood when i exercise, and then when i eat a large meal, the stomach uses enough blood flow, that the heart gets starved and i go into serious angina ... soooo ... i am ordered to limit exercise and eat 6 to 8 tiny meals a day ... and i am even getting a handicap sign for my car ... yikes!

Amazing -
Sorry to hear that the prognosis wasn't as favorable as you had hoped for, but it is good to hear that the doctor was impressed with the changes that you have made so far. It appears that you're on the right track, just need a little more 'medical' help to get you where you need to be.
Best of luck and keep us updated!
Take care,
Brian
