It's nice that they're no kill, but there are just two factors - one is a home environment is very different, which is the kind of environment they will eventually be living in and may or need to be in depending - I imagine some do foster the special cases already. The second is fostering them rather than adopting allows you to help more animals, but of course you run into the attachment more than if they are at the shelter.

Usually there will be a need for foster homes, small rescue organizations that do not have shelters rely on fosters - you might look at that.

"Evil Laugh"
by Briguy injust wondering if anyone else has aquired the "evil" laugh after they stopped being a jw?.
few months ago with-in my family (the non-witness side) i confided about many of the things i have come to learn from this site and other sources.
being as some familys do, word got around about my "apostate" thinking.

You tend to laugh when you can see things in perspective, so the thing laughed at is surreal, like a joke. That's why it may in fact seem demonic, because to someone without the perspective it is totally alien. Instead of being curious people fear what they're not familiar with.

I once heard this story where a squirrel pissed on this girl's leg. Of course, she was stoned too..

Smell like a jock strap or like a perfumed girl? Shower Soap ?...
by Little Drummer Boy inon the strength that my recent post concerning cheetos went to 3 pages and was referenced in at least 3 other threads, i feel that the time has come to discuss another most important topic: shower soap.. this thread topic most definitely falls under the category of intellectual starvation topics, so you should be forewarned that terry will not approve.
heh...(just funnin' yah terry).
to the point: i here refer to a liquid soap meant to be applied to a wet shower poof and then scrubbed onto the skin.

that link doesn't even work when you click on it, but I do like Burt's Bee. For shower I really like the peppermint Dr. Bronner's soap, but you will probably want to ignore the freaky preachy religious message on it.

I know we have it in our public library, so it is possible to access it without buying the book. Maybe they'd order it if your area does not have it?

Not never, but the vast majority of people - probably like 99.999999%. I am curious as to whether it is more JW related or a family thing, though.

Do You Recognize Your Baptism?
by sweetstuff ini was promised that this generation would no means pass away.
(live forever book, pg.
154) i brought this up, although it has probably been discussed before, because i am sure some people right now are worrying how to handle an elder's visit or call.

Oh duh, I totally spaced on the connection between the baptism and being associated with WT and stuff - guess that pretty much speaks for itself, though.

Well I guess baptism is SUPPOSED to be an outward symbol of a type of initiation, which has to do with a shift in consciousness. But as with other things of this nature like a guru giving you a spiritual name in some foreign language nothing else may have happend in that moment, or even before it. Just because there is a symbol doesn't mean there's anything behind it.
In my case, I was a sincere convert so I actually did have the intention of dedicating myself, but of course that self gets pretty messed up in the religion. I was definitely changed to an extent, on some level, so it counts for something, but not in the sense of THE ONE life changing thing or anything. If you continue to mature in life, you tend to have other milestones. Obviously I wasn't that mature back then both due to indoctrination and the naivete of youth.
