when you travel to europe, don't be surprised to find that many europeans don't believe in god.
i have even witnessed some alcohol-infused conversations between americans and europeans that almost ended in fistfights over his/her existence.

did you look forward to shepherding calls?.
were you refreshed after talking to the elders?.
one elder really cared and tried, but had no answers. two others were dunces, and they had no answers or encouragement, and urged me not to speak of these matters to others. I said if this is a new truth, should we hide it under a basket, or put on the table for all to see. Do not tell others about this!
gives you a warm fuzzy feeling.....oompa
i don't know if it is my imagination or what, but i've started to notice something odd in recent wts literature (besides all the other odd things): .
i am struggling to find any mention in recent watchtower articles and publications of jehovah being referred to as the "heavenly father" of jehovah's witnesses!
for example, in the upcoming october 22-28 watchtower study article entitled "your father is merciful" (quoting from luke 6:36), god is not once referred to as "heavenly father" throughout the entire article!
I just searched the 2005 CD under "heavenly father" and there are dozens of current occurances where that term is applied to the father of all JW's.

let me begin by saying that i never expected to even talk about my situation let alone discuss it on the internet but i guess im just feeling so sad that i must hope that someone will understand and give me encouragement...so here it goes.. .
but the more active i got, the more abusive my stepmother became.
ironically, he sent my stepmother to the wedding.
Cassayene, you have friends here that can relate, and perhaps somewhat understand what you have been through. What an unfair burdern you have had to carry. I hope that by sharing here it will help in even the smallest way. I am so sorry.

in "observadors" thread, http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/10/141584/1.ashx a poster named "on the way out" mentioned being baptised at a ymca pool.
(thanks for the thought, "otwo").. has anyone else had this experience?
is there a way to find any documentation on this?
Not if he had AIDS. WT rule. They have to be baptized in natural bodies of water that have some flow. I swear. I went to one a few years ago when the poor guy could not be dipped in the pool with the rest. Why couldn't he just go last for petes sake?
more rules are better...oompa
i'm doing this well in advance so that all the wonderful people on jwd can look back later and see just how close they were to the actual number!
(it is possible the wts might stop publishing the partaker numbers) in a few days, i will duly record the link to this thread for future reference.. remember that there were 8524 partakers in 2005 and 8758 partakers in 2006, an increase of 234 partakers.
so how many remnant will partake in 2007??.
144,873

in my over 30 years as a jw, i honestly can't recall ever hearing about anyone who was being officially "marked" pursuant to the society's "marking" policy based on 2 thess 3:14. .
in fact, i havn't read anything about their strange "marking" policy in years.
this makes me wonder if the society still has confidence in it and still officially endorses it?
The last I recall the Marking of others is strictly a personal decision. You make the call, you do the avoid.

that pretty much says it all, but i just dont get why god so craves worship.
what is he really getting out of it???
but he wants it so much that if he can't get it, he will whack you out forever.. never felt like worshiping god but say thanks for great sunsets.....oompa.
Tenbux says:
Every JW knows that the Kingdom Hall is their place of worship, they go there in order to worship God, they worship three times a week, in fact they are the only true worshippers, etc. What does it actually mean though? If you were to ask one of them to draw a picture of a JW who is in the act of worshipping God alongside one who is not, what would be the difference?
This is kind of what I used to try and feel. Another poster mentioned snotty, loud singing, arm waving people that where at the time "worshiping". But at the Hall, I'm sitting there for thousands of hours listening, just listening (to people drone on and on), and I did not feel giving this worship. Cleaning the Hall toilet, there you go God, I just worshiped you, same for vacuuming. And of course, the real worship, knocking on doors, selling literature, and reading Scriptures to others, hell I was not actually THINKING about or to God during any of this! It seems worship is more like thoughts in the brain to me that somehow God is dying to hear/see/feel.
Snowbird says:
God doesn't need or want anything so badly that He has to kill in order to get it. He invites all to come to Him in humility and obedience. We can accept Him or reject Him. The choice is ours.
What the Hey SB? There are only a few thousand years of recorded history in the old test. that shows how God deals with mankind. What did he do or have done to those people who just happend to be nearby the the Jews? Whack, whack, whack. Can you say 185,000 Assyrians whacked in just one night? That was mercifully done by an angel rather the the hacking and raping he let the Jews do to people that did not have the option of accepting Jehovah.
trying so hard...can I....harder....YES!....I think I just worshiped something.....oompa
i haven't been to a meeting in going on 2 years and have moved since my last one.
i don't know any jws in my city, never even seen one on the street, and have been looking for the nearest kh.
i am going to check the schedule and see when their service meeting is.
I have not been in awhile, but am going to try and force myself. I am indeed going to have to at least ask "So let me get this straight, we are not to use any outside research tools, enclopedias, dictionaries, or web sites to help us answer a question of a Spiritual nature? We should use ONLY WT publications, and nothing else? Just why has this "new light" flashed forth now?" Or something like that.
worser and worser and worser.....oompa

Eclipse says:
But what mother or father, who is supposed to be loving, KILLS their children,
or their children's children, simply for being disobedient and imperfect?
Human parents are more forgiving. Human parents have a higher morality than god does, because killing is wrong.
Prove me wrong.
This is a very good and simple analogy. Yes, I want my kids to love me (but not worship me). But if they don't, there is nothing I can really do about it, except maybe kill them. If I kill them, then then that still does not change the fact that they did not love me, it only makes sure that they will NEVER be able to love me in the future.
can you worship without kneepads....oompa
