I agree with avishai......the only thing that will make them change is to punish them monetarily. When it affects their pocketbook, then changes will happen, but until then, they will continue with their current policies. The Society would hate to give up money to abuse survivors, and if they had to, they would definitely change their views so it wouldn't happen again. After all, the contributions aren't flowing in like they used to in the good ol' days. I believe with the many lawsuits being filed, they will be forced to pay and change their outlook. Until then, my heart goes out to all who've had to endure the pain of what has happened to them. Money may not take away their pain, but it will hopefully force the Society to seriously take a look at how they handle molestation issues that arise within the organization.

HELP!!! Hubby turning home into 'Book Study'
by Skeptically Yours inmy husband, who's a ministerial servant, was approached by an elder and asked if he'd offer our home to become a 'book study' meeting place.. i'm a bit of a loner, and need lots of peace, quiet, privacy, and solitude; plus to boot you all know i'm living this sort of double life, you know, just doing the very minimum to remain a witness.. this is awful!!!!!!!!!!
i can't deal with it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
take care!

I guarantee after a couple of complaints about the dirtiness of the house, that it will most likely be moved.
I hate to say this isn't always true. My in-laws had bookstudy at their home for a couple of years, and their home is absolute trailer trash. But the elders still let them have it there. And when they finally stopped having it there, it had nothing to do with how dirty their home was. And we're talking definite trailer trash here. Appliances in the driveway, grass (weeds) mowed 3 times a year, dishes in the sink, laundry area overflowing with dirty clothes, carpet ripped up, junk vehicles in the yard, toys strewn about everywhere. It amazes me they preach about paradise, and their own home looks like sh*t!
We had bookstudy in our home for 4 years, but finally got tired of it. People were starting to be disrespectful in our home, so once that started I said....Adios!! Find somewhere else!!
Now I don't have to go at all........

Our Anniversary Surprise
by Mulan inyesterday, the kids surprised us with a sunset dinner cruise, as their gift to us for our anniversary.
it was very elegant, on the top deck of a large catamaran, dining vessel, off of waikiki and diamond head.
we had waiters (not a buffet) and great entertainment.

Hi Marilyn. Glad to hear you had a great time on the cruise. We were all wondering what your surprise was. I thought you might find this interesting. The picture of the boat in your post......I helped build part of that. The upper portion was built by a small company here in Seattle that I used to work for. That was several years ago. Glad to see it's still floating......

Sorry to hear about Steve's sickness. I know it ain't no fun being sick, especially when you're on vacation and supposed to be enjoying yourself. But then again, would I rather be sick at home or in Hawaii?..... I think I'll take Hawaii!!! Glad you and Bigred had a nice anniversary. Princess gave us all a heads up that you guys were getting a surprise..so we're all anxious to hear what it was. Have fun and have a drink for us!

by Skeptically Yours intoday, like many days, well, usually once or twice weekly, i'm missing yet another meeting; it's the 'book study' meeting.. just don't feel like hearing the same crap.
the book (isaiah's prophecy) we're studying now is so redundant and boring!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
plus, i saw all the people i care for over the weekend, so i really don't need to have another doses of their love just yet.. sound familiar to anyone?!.

I don't know what it is with brothers and business.......they never mix. I know of so many instances where brothers have cheated on their taxes, taken advantage of other brothers and sisters when they're employees, been involved in shady business dealings.....the list goes on. Oh wait....JW's are honest and fair in all things in life, including business...WHAT WAS I THINKING?? You can always trust the brothers......

If I am correct.....I believe our beloved JT came up with the term, "Cheese and Cracker Men". (At least, he's the first one I saw to use this term in reference to elders) I LOVE this new term. Fits them perfectly!!!!! I believe you can see JT's CCM lingo here.....
