my mate, a never witness was disgusted that someone could show so musch disrespect whatever your viewpoint.
I wish I had the guts to go to the Memorial and gracefully, politely take the emblems.
I am just still too nervous and have too many bad memories to do it. Been out 22 years. LOL
I don't like the way she did it, but maybe she had to screw up her courage that way. Who knows. She definitely didn't help "the cause."

for me it was the tuesday night book study.
i didn't like reading, opening/closing with prayers and the uncomfortable, close, claustrophobic setting it was in.
this meeting was the first one to be binned when i started to fade.

I also miss that ONE song. Here I am, Send Me. I can still hear it. I meant it with all my heart and still do. But now I have a better message to share.
I hated the Tuesday night book study even when I was gung-ho for the rest. They were always so convoluted and involved. So many dates to remember. It was like a history class which I hated at school (until I grew up).
But I have good memories of the assemblies, after the sun went down in the evenings, standing to sing and thinking I was with all these people and we all agreed on these important issues. And sorry if I am just too corny, but I loved the dramas. I still like live theatre even if it is just our local amateurs.

i remember always hearing about flag saluting in other countries.
Our country was formed so that "all men" would have the right to pursue happiness.
But only WHITE MEN WHO OWNED LAND.
No women, blacks, poor people, etc, etc, etc had the "God given" right to pursue happiness.
We do have a great country but it could be improved upon and I don't believe it was founded by true Christians.

we have a craft store here in the midwest called hobby lobby.
besides the glue and yarn, etc they carry a lot of crosses.
no other religious items just crosses.
It's called FREE ENTERPRISE.
He owns the store. He decides what he wants to carry.
YOU have the right to shop elsewhere.
I'm sure there are PLENTY of other stores to buy that other stuff.
If I owned a store, I wouldn't carry that stuff either.

I agree with frankiespeakin.
It is indoctrination and should not be forced.
I got baptised at 16 and decided for myself not to salute.
But then my mother raised me to consider it weird. I was also taught not to AUTOMATICALLY trust and revere anyone, including policemen, doctors, lawyers, etc. People are people are people. They put their pants on one leg at a time. They are no better than I am. Some are not very bright or honest. That is how I was raised before the JWs ever hit the scene at our house.
So I still feel kind of creepy when the salute happens.
On the other hand, this is America. I have a right to not salute. RIGHT??
Did anyone here see the Saturday Night Live performance about the man who did not salute who was beat up and kicked down while the people beating him were singing about our great country? It was funny, sad and to the point.

It is so weird that I was just thinking about her recently and wondered if she ever got out. I couldn't remember her name. I have a cheap reproduction of one of her works from before she was a JW. It is in the attic somewhere. I sincerely hope she got out!

i'll give a little back ground.
i was raised in the witness organization however in about 1993 i encountered much hypocrisy and left for about 3 years.
Nathan Nates said that any larger library would have good resources. My library is fairly big and there is nothing but JW propaganda. Makes me sick. We've thought about buying C of C for our library but someone on one of the forums mentioned that they disappear. The JWs steal them. Theocratic warfare.
