The student in this story may not consciously remember the lesson, but it's in there, part of the fabric of her life. When she needs validation the essence of the experience will be there for her to draw upon and, over time, she will find her way to a different "truth".

Precisely what agenda do you think that either the Economist or the Brisbane Times may have, in running this story?
Does the fact that the exposure is coming from "The Economist" give you any hints?

While all of the info on corruption may be accurate, the exposure isn't to correct the situation, it's to allow other interests access for the purpose of interjecting their own agenda.

New requirement to be Recommended
by bruh2012 inper co last night, he mentioned in his talk that in oder for a brother to be recommended as an elder or ministrial servant he must have a regular and meaningful family worship night.
this will demostrate his willingness not to miss that important meeting and preside over his household.. so i thought, wow what a way to add to the "inspired" biblical list of qualifications.
serving jehovah is sounding more and more and more organizational..

How would they know if a meaningful family study is being held or not? Maybe they plan on dropping by unannounced?
What if the brother is single and lives alone?

i met with my elders and told them i could not justify carrying on as a jw.

I'm not trying to brag, but being an EXJW is awesome!!! Status Update-
by Coffee House Girl inhello jwn!
i don't get to check in here or comment as often as i would like because i have been working so hard at school...but i just have to share my news in hopes that newbees can see that taking the leap to enroll in higher education is worth it-.
i am graduating this spring with a bachelor degree in art history, minor anthropology...many people (including nonjw's have given me flack for choosing a "dead end" career path) but since leaving the watchtower organization's group-think mentality and "leaning on my own understanding" instead... i decided to say fuck everyone else's opinion...i am going to pursue my passion to work in a museum as a curator or archivist-.

Make You Feel Good Story from Old Readers Digest "Did God Ride the Brooklyn Subway that Afternoon?"
by RottenRiley in" he said, "my name is bela paskin.
as they got off of the train, marcel went over to a phone and called the number on the dog-eared piece of paper.
marcel asked if he was speaking to maria paskin and she said that he was.

I too have had too many supernormal events that make me puzzle over the good that comes to us sometimes. How to explain this isn't for me...
The best I can come up with is that there are many more potential opportunities for "miracles" but the people involved don't follow through.
In this account, Sternberger took the time to listen, first to Marya's (the wife) story, a few weeks before his encounter with Bela (the husband). He felt compelled to get Marya's contact information, thus was prepared when he, once again, listened, this time to Bela. Sternberger not only listened but was willing to follow through, to make the effort to reunite this couple. He put forth effort and used some of his material assets (to pay taxi fare) to send Bela to Marya. What if he hadn't been open enough to strike up a conversation with a fellow Hungarian? What if he hadn't bothered to mentally compare the two stories and act upon his conclusions? This is what I mean by following through; it can make the difference between "serendipity" and missed opportunities.
I wouldn't call it "supernormal" or "a miracle" as much as I would say these things happen because someone actually loves his/her neighbor as he/she loves him/herself. Do unto others...
