I was haveing a conversation with my wife on some things and she asked me "well what does your preist think?"....I had to explain that I went to a church that has a pastor not a preist. She had never head of such a thing. Also every time I get into conversations with her family it is allways "well the cathlic church did...(insert atrocity here). It seems that from a general point of view with them.....Catholic church = all other churches.

Love, Marriage and Leaving JWs?
by non_trias_theos inhave you ever heard bitter divorcees relate their experiences about their former husbands or wives?
most of the time, if it is a wife telling the story, her former husband could not do anything right.
he was a terrible father, lover, provider, cook, gardener and he smelled funky and was abusive.

I have heard the "up-set husband/wife" comparison to apostates before. My wife tried it and I told her that if indeed the upset spouse were running her mouth with no proof then yes I would take it with a grain of salt. However...if she came to me with letters written in the offending spouse's own handwriting recounting/describing the same things she complaining about..well that lends some credibility. The watchtower sure has written a lot.

The Trinity Is A False Doctrine!
by non_trias_theos inchristendom teaches that there are three persons in one substance.
yet there is not three gods but one god.
what could be more unscriptural and illogical?

Nice trick for God there FRUSR, perhaps. So why does He have so much trouble inspiring humans to write a book that acutally makes any sense? You all can argue the Trinity for the rest of time just like some Star Trek geeks trying to make reality out of science fiction, but you will never, never, (did I mention never) PROVE your point.
hmmmmm possibly that WAS his (god's) point.....

thanks so much for talking back to 13wmaz about jehovah's witnesses.

I had an interesting conv. with my mother-in-law on this one...at first the attitude was that even there is no mention in the bible directly about it, it was still a sin. I explained that gambling itself is not evil.... Many people can gamble without greed or expectation of winning...they look at it as an expensive video game. I also pointed out that MOST of the time in the bible it is the intent of the person not the action itself that is the important part. Given that is the case...the real sin is greed...not gambling. She agreed with me on that and finally admitted that indeed gambling itself could not be good or evil by it's self. A few weeks later she was at my house with some other JW ladies that my wife studies with and one of the issues that was in the study was gambling and the "teacher" of the group went on about how evil it was and all these reasons (that I'm sure we have all heard before) why it is so evil. My mother-in-law sat right there and just nodded her head...yep yep yep. As I passed through the room I looked right at her and she would not even look at me.... I glanced at my wife (who heard the entire conversation I had with her mother) and she gave me the look that said "don't you dare embarrass me!". I just shook my head and walked on through .

JW's are an unknown fringe group
by joelbear ini went to a dinner party tonight that had about 100 people, all non jws.
laughter and merriment and a good time was had by all.. these were good honest hard working people who have no clue as to what jws believe or that they are going to be judged according to whether they believe like witnesses do.. it impressed on my mind just how unknown witnesses are and how little people pay any attention to their message.. witnesses think they are the center of the universe.
non-witnesses don't even think about them at all.. joel

Look, people aren't perfect, and there are bad witnesses just like their are bad Catholics and bad Jews and so on. But please don't stereotype us by saying that we think we are "perfect" or we think that you are all going to die, or whatever else you "think" you may know. Majority of Witnesses are hard-working, caring individuals just trying to struggle through life like everyone else.
Ya know...I took some time and really thought about this one....I even went and reveiwed old threads....and I came to the conclusion that most of the time it is not the JW as an individual that is being...as you put it "stereotyped". It is the organization as a whole...the powers that be at Bethel...that are being criticized. I would think that GOD's TRUE organization would be able to stand high in the light of a close inspection of those "truths".

Ok...for those who have a hard time seeing how one person can also be 3 persons....
take a pitcher of water...pour some of that water in an ice tray....let it freeze overnight, leaving the rest of the water in the pitcher on the counter. OK...next morning (after some coffee) pour the water in a pot....boil it and then take the ice cubes that you made from the water that was in the pitcher and put them in the pot. For a (very) short time that 1 pitcher of water wil be in 3 diffrent forms..water, steam, and ice. So you see...it really is not beyond our scope of understanding....there are things all around us that exist in 3 diffrent forms...but are also one. I for one think that if it's in the world around us....GOD would have very little trouble pulling it off himself.... :)
