  So that is what you think? Well, I'm glad you finally nailed your colours to the mast.

  Here's what I think happened:

  Brokaw summed up the current crises faced by the country and the president and suggested that the new president would have a lot to deal with on January 21st (war, economy, healthcare, climate change etc.)

  He asked Powell what he would say if called into the Oval office on that day.

  As part of his response Powell suggested that there would likely be further - currently unknown - issues to deal with, given the nature of time and politics and so on, and went on to suggest some general solutions (restoring confidence, education, showing leadership and so on).

  Do you think it's even remotely possible that my interpretation is correct and that, perhaps, someone who's involved in a conspiracy of truly epic levels, a vast treasonous murderous conspiracy didn't just accidentally and quite casually mention it?

  what the government gives to the people.. have you noticed or did you know, how many single women have babies that the government pays for?

  they pay for the births, healthcare, there is wic programs, that supply formula and dairy products.

  housing, college tuition, a program called tea, that can even assist or give you a car.. i worked as a temp at dhs, dept of human services, answering the 800 number, taking calls from all over the state.

  Why am I so lucky...Please help with this teaching ...

  ok, here is something that i have struggled with for years !!

  the question is in multiple parts that i will state in no particular order.. how can it be that only 6 million people are right and 6 billion are wrong?.

  how is it that i am luchy enough to be "born into the truth", cuz if i wasn't, i know that i would never give a jw the time of day if they came to my door.. what is i was born in india or china,, chances are that i would not be a jw.

  I think one of the reasons JWs don't hold on to too many of their "born-ins" is that they actually use this line of thinking to recruit. Asking something like "What are the odds that you were born into the right religion?" is a good way to get people to look at other religions. The unwanted side-effect is that children of JWs may think, "Hey, what are the odds that I was born into the right religion?". I've no doubt that with the recent separation of the Watchtower magazine, that the public version will continue to pose this question, while the private version will focus more on obeying one's parents and not looking outside the "truth".

  this has me very confused.

  if someone is agnostic or leaning strongly that way, how can the fact that people claim to be haunted by ghosts, spirits, say they can talk to the dead, are possessed by evil spirits, etc be reconciled to make sense?

  What I think you mean - or what you should mean - is how can someone remain agnostic after hearing these claims. And the answer is that there is not sufficient evidence for these events to prove that they happened or that the supernatural explanation is correct.

  Most claims of supernatural contact are of course hallucinations or hoaxes. The rest are unexplained but the smart money would put them in the same category.

  Your interpretation of Biden is accurate as far as it goes, however my statement still stands: he predicts an international disaster within 6 months. Colin Powell speaks of it within days of Obama's being inaugurated.

  The inference most people take from these statements is that these supporters of Obama are saying that the near future will likely bring new challenges and that their guy is up to them and will be able to hit the ground running if needed, whereas the other guy really doesn't have the wherewithal to deal with whatever unexpected issue comes next. You seem to have a different interpretation. Am I correct in that you believe that Joe Biden and Colin Powell are actually part of a secret elite who have advanced knowledge of a coming disaster, and both accidentally let that knowledge slip? If not, could you perhaps tell us what you think the significance of these statements actually is?

  on the thread about the pdf for the 2003 listening to the great teacher book, i posted about the arguement my hubby and i had over this book when it first came out.

  i threw out the 2 copies my kids had and then regretted it because i think this book is very telling about the wt organization and the issue of pedophiles and child molestation.

  i wanted to address what happened here too for discussion.. i am not good at copying over texts so perhaps someone else can post here pages 59-60 in this book where sexual content is explained in vivid detail using the terms penis and vulva.

  Today some young boys and girls have sex relations, but this is wrong for them. The Bible talks about the male "genital organ," or penis. (Leviticus 15:1-3) The female genital parts are called the vulva. Jehovah created these parts of the body for a special purpose that should be enjoyed only by married people. It makes the demons happy when people do things that are forbidden by Jehovah. For example, the demons like it when a boy and a girl play with each other’s penis or vulva. We don’t want to make the demons happy, do we?—
