the only way to go to heaven is believing that jesus christ is god's son, and that he was sent here to earth to die on the cross for our sins.
if you confess him as lord and savior, then and only then, will you be certain that you are going to heaven.

That seems like a rather arbitrary standard. Why is belief without evidence the requirement for salvation, rather than, say, love or good deeds or meekness or something that Jesus actually taught?

irishmen blow each other up in his name.
arabs blow themselves up in his name.
imams and ayatollahs oppress women in his name.
Perhaps microbes will survive us because they are the fittest, and that is how it should be
IslandWoman, it's fairly clear that you don't understand evolutinary theories. There's no "should" involved. There's no ultimate purpose. Organisms survive and reproduce according to the instructions in their DNA. Organisms that are good at surviving are more likely to survive. Whether their survival is "good" in any moral or ethical sense is irrelevant. There's no direction or purpose. An adaptation that benefits an individual is likely to propagate through the species over time. Those that harm the individual are likely to die out. Because most species become well adapted to their environments over time, any rapid change in the environment can lead to the decimation or total extinction of the species, as has happened many times in our planet's history.
Humans are unique in that, unlike other animals, we can in effect, "see around the corner." We can anticipate the future and do not live at the mercy of our genes. As, in most people's opinion, the survival of humanity is important, we take steps to ensure our species' survival (and the survival of individuals). We even take steps to ensure the survival of other species. We are part of nature and of evolution, but our large evolved brains allow us to circumvent natural processes that could harm us.
Understanding genetics allows us to live longer, healthier lives. Most scientists think that's a good thing. Evolution is like weather or gravity. It shapes the world we live in, but we still try -rightly in my opinion - to avoid its negative effects.

most of us now laugh at the witnesses, but i think compared to some others they are quite reasonable ( notice i said compared).. so which religion has the most crazy beliefs.. i dont have much knowledge of these religions but i'll mention what i know , feel free to add your own points or correct me if i'm wrong.. i'll start with.. mormons,.
believe jews migrated to america.and that we are angels on earth being tested.. monnies,.
believe rev moon is jesus on earth.they also use (missuse) quatum physics to prove their beliefs.. scientology,.
I think that, either on his deathbed or through a posthumous book, he will reveal that this was all a huge joke - that he was just trying to make a point, and it got out of hand.
The problem with that theory is that Hubbard died in 1986. If there was such a book, it hasn't been published.

hello, again.. this is the second of three parts.
we're starting to get into the meat of the subject here, and you should find some information on many of the objections that were brought up on the first one, as well as gravedancers thread.. let me reiterate again that these thoughts are not meant to be definative answers.
they are a work in progress and reflect the direction that seems logical and interesting.
Don't expect to get an understanding from just Genesis alone. Use the theme as it extends throughout the Bible, as each mention of him is like a small piece of the jigsaw puzzle and eventually makes a fairly clear picture.
My point is that it doesn't. Can you quote scriptures to back up your assertions?

we have no problems in our relationship about the toilet seat.
but others seem to make a big deal as to whether the guy should leave it down for us ladies.. what's your take on this?
take into account ladies that if a man puts it down, and we leave it down, he has to always be putting it up.
Here's a handy tip for anyone who has a problem with the position of toilet seats. If it's up and you want it down, put it down. If it's down and you want it up, put it up!
