I need some advice...my first post!

i've been around for awhile, but never registered for fear of giving my personal information (yes, that's how much the borg scares me.

i was raised in the org, and left when i was 18. i realized that every religion firmly believed that they were correct, and that forced me to re-evaluate the religion on its merits, as opposed to my insistent belief.

needless to say, i saw the man behind the curtain.

Many have had to leave as you and your cousin did.

If you want to maintain some sort of contact with your family there are two choices.

1. Return to the land of the JWs

2. Play the "I am depressed" card. Maybe even go as far as to have your doctor prescribe meds ...which are great for appearances. Open up a subscription to the pubs at the KH (p/u every 2-3 months or have a relative p/u for you). Keep up the JW speak with your family so they see you are "trying to overcome" and this reassures them that you know the WTS message. Yea attend the memorial. Keep posting and reading JWD as this is community group therapy. You can play this for years.

Know that you are not alone in this predicament.

any former elders have an answer for me?

so i was df'd for living with/having sex with my boyfriend for 3 years and then not ending the relationship and moving out within the week between the first meeting of confession and the second meeting where they tell me what their decision was.

i did move out 3 months later with the intent of being reinstated over a period of time.

well i couldn't cut off the relationship with my bf even though i did move out, so i married him after a year and then 2 weeks after that i slept with someone else.

this is the third elder that tells me that the body of elders will recommend me as an elder in the next visit of the co.. what do you think i should do?

i am still 'in' because of my family.i am ms.i am doing 10+ fake hours (well, some months it is fake), so they see my "spiritual" progress.-ootb.

Do you want to help others by being an Elder?

Do you want to shepherd?

Do you think that by being an Elder, having access to "internal" docs, you can show your wife that the WBTS is turning its back on Jah and slaving for riches.

What are the benefits, what are the drawbacks?

This is what I know of him, he uses half truths.

I had a "chat" about the case of Amy B in Texas (no fiduciary responsibility). Her case was suing the local congo and NY. NY was dismissed. This was his entire argument, that since the case against NY was dismissed the WTBTS was vindicated.....yet the congo of JWs locally were still on the hook. Apparently in his mind the JW congo and WTBTS are not interchangable or connected (guess he as never read a the deed papers on a KH). Eventually she closed her case here in Texas and sign on with the Napa case. They settled those 16 cases back in May.

Number 1, you do not need to confess to the Elders. You confess to Jehovah directly through Jesus. No Elder can offer forgivness. (PS I cannot find anything in the Flock book saying you have to confess wrongdoings while DFd, you have to repent for your actions that led to the DFing only. Being that you are married to the guy, should work in your favor.)

Number 2 You need to make the decision on what is best for your marriage and your sanity. Would you want to know, would you want to remain ignorant? This is a tough decision you are facing. Both directions have consequences, so weigh your options carefully.

Number 3 If you want to be reinstated, stick to the reason for the DFing.
