For Those Who Went: How "Special" Was Sunday's "Special Talk?"

Well here is what happened at my hall....

The Brother who gave the talk did a bang up job of utilizing aspects he liked about the outline and presenting a milder talk whose theme was centered around how using Bible Principles makes our lives more balanced, happy and how we can apply the golden rule to find peace within our own turbulent lives.... it ws a great talk and could have been given in any church. It was a sincere presentation, man has a good heart and a level head, he is a raised and is in the last decade of his life.....a white headed pillar of patience and wisdom...

Last year was a dry reading by the CoBoE who was nervous as all get out.....Glad he didn't try again....he just doesn't have a natural flow to his presentations.......

i mainly post on the topix jehovah's witness forum, but i decided to give it a try over here also.

okay.....lets be realistic here, Standfirm you may have some 'self-justifications' but in the end no JW should be here unless they are DFd (and unrepentant) or DAd..... We are all equal in our disobedience on this matter (independent thinking).

I would hope the forum would keep directed in discerning just how much Standfirm actually knows about our Organization and beliefs. I have no doubt she is sincere in her endeavors so lets discern what she knows before anyone attempts to debate her...

Lets start of with the most basic of questions:

Dear Standfirm,

Can you state the definition of what exactly is our 'truth' or 'gospel' ? (it can be found on our WTCD).......

well to tell everyone shortly and simple like rubbish!

the 2 elders that were nice moved out and they were extremely friends and they saw that i had a hard time fitting me.

but the other elders are proud and stuffed up i don't go out of the way as i used to, why should i go out my way to say hello and how are you to someone that does not want to talk to me, they have such dumb reason we are busy with theocratic stuff, ya right like every meeting for the past 2 years i been in the hall you never had a chance.

I would really love to hear about everyone's presenter's delivery..... did the Bro stick exclusively with the outline or did he vary? Was he rigid and nervous or easy going and smooth in delievery?

Why is sex suddenly pure and holy after you receive a marriage certificate?

if a witness couple who are engaged to one another, decide to express their love toward each other by engaging in sexual intercourse just weeks or even days before they're officially married, they are considered to be loathsome, unclean people.

the witness girl would be seen by others in the hall as a dirty little whore...and the guy would just be thought of as a horny young man who couldn't keep it in his pants.

Sex is a 'privilege' of marriage in the post Jesus world....

Thus it is the act of keeping God's standards to abstain prior to legal binding...that declares holy/pure versus unclean/wanton.....

Here is my "logical" thoughts.....Men need to be held accountable with stardards that encourage them to be responsible so that society can funtion beyond the lone-wolf tendencies of all males. (um cities and civilizations get built this way) .......... and in times past prior to birth control, women's rights, and govt run welfare initiatives.....the whole knock a girl up and split created an even bigger burden on society.... another mouth to feed without benefit of male parent working to benefit tribe or society. I am certain too that some Daddy's Girl got done dirty by a guy.....options: Kill bastard or force his punk ass to marry her so she can be happy (shotgun wedding).... So by setting standards more kept those in previous times then those who violated them.......ditto for JWs today and many other Christians......(it also lessens STDs)

New Light @ The 2011 District Convention

" at the bottom of the image on the back of the invitation raises some eyebrows, but last night in the routine district convention article during the service meeting, i caught that one of the paragraphs mentioned that we would be encouraged to keep a copy of the tract in hand for a discussion during sunday's last talk.

my guess is, there is going to be some new revelation about what the "?

" represents, or some other fangled idea.

As far as your WTS questions....

How can you ditch a new prophesy which celebrates (or maybe commemorates is a better word) the 1914 prophesy?

A) Usually it is done in a WT study article or 'Questions From the Readers'

It seems like the WTBTS changes new light like I change my socks.

A) Actually the WTS takes about 2 years to really hammer out a 'noo-light' path and delivery. However with issues like Spain's taxation or Britains data laws things are done as soon as the WTS discerns the outcome as unchangeable....

Does the WTBTS constantly change the light so that the R&F will be too busy trying to lock-step into line instead of questioning why?

A) Not really..... But during Franz's presidency Jaracz successfully initiated such and he is behind the present direction as well.......

The National Negro College Fund slogan many years ago seems very profound when applied to JWs, "A Mind is a Terrible thing to Waste."

I agree ..... I am old enough to remember and have comparison of 'then' and since the 80s clampdown.....dumbing down and blindfaith prevail at a shocking rate among converts (our largest demographic).....but it isn't so in the born/raised sector....63% identify as 'no longer jw' and of us remaining 37% growth in the 'conscious class' is sharply increasing......
