And Valentine's day isn't even a holiday. It's just people expressing affection.
Wait I forgot. Witnesses have no affection.
when growing up, i don't remember being taken out of school for much, but my ex-wife takes my daughter out for so many holidays.
i just found out that she took her out thursday and friday for valentines day.
is this even legal?

......or have they changed that rule...and made it a "conscience matter"??
thanks for your help..... lavendar .
Always amazes me that you live, eat and breathe, but you are the living dead. You have no life-like the Flanders zombie.
Yo Hillbilly!
George Wallace took a shot... and that sorta straightened his anti-black butt out. You mean someone had to shoot a racist to change his attitude. Hillbilly, I seriously doubt that a bullet changed his attitude. I believe in this case someone did not like his attitude. Does that mean anyone who has a bad attitude needs a shot in the head just because of an opposing viewpoint? Pretty extreme. What ever happened to freedom of speech no matter how nutty it is? So if a student gets pissy on a teacher or fellow student, out comes the hardware?
Can we trust untrained juveniles to use a weapon responsibly at say age 14-19? How about 20? Kids that age can't even behave in a restaurant flipping burgers, never mind a weapon.
Pretty extreme, yes? No?
.
just thought of this.....and was curious.
do they give part of their income to the wts?.
Then can I ask just how much would a Witness donate per month?
Better still, how much have you as Witnesses did you donate per month?
Sorry Gregor but guns have no place is a school at all. What is it about Americans that says we MUST defend ourselves everywhere we go? Maybe that is why the US has the highest murder rate. Solve every problem by killing the opponent. Perhaps that is why you have so many heads of state shot. Kennedy (x2), Reagan, MLK. and many others.
Is that the only way one can solve differences? Pretty immature.
I could not live in a society with so much violence.
OK, my last 2 cents on this issue.
First an observation. I have been to the US hundreds of times and not once have I seen anyone carrying a gun on the street (except for law enforcement). If anyone on the street saw someone with a weapon, I bet that a whole lot of people would panic and get law enforcement on the buggers case. No one needs to walk down a street, and enter a place of business or whatever with a loaded weapon.
Second. I was wondering where all the parents are in these cases? In our family I do watch over the kids from time to time and observe quietly. If I had noticed odd behaviour, I would attempt to correct it. That is what parents are supposed to do.
with all the talk about the increased violence in schools and among society, it still surprises me that the accessibility to guns argument often tends to trump the cultural argument.. maybe i'm out of touch but showing saw iii uncut on hbo at 10pm and releasing the most violent video games in history and the marketing of violent and perverse music, these are the things to me that desensitises young people first and then may trigger some hurt and unstable kids long before they go and buy a gun.. okay, ready to be blasted (pardon the pun)!.
.
Perhaps if you eliminate the need for weapons - serious penalties, better education, you would decrease the violence.
Seems though that Christianity did sweet bugger all to reduce it.

Seems Japan, Hong Kong and South Korea have their shit together. Perhaps they have a stiffer justice system.

I think Avishai, are you referring to Canada? If you are talking about Canada, and I am not sure, the crime here is mostly from the drug dealing immigrants from central America and Asia. Most of the illegal weapons here have been smuggled by them into our country and used to defend the territory of these pond scum.
The vast majority of murders are from them. Take that out of the equation (the drug scum) and you will have a better picture.
I cannot specifically answer why the US is out of control, but I believe someone earlier said that it's lack of education. That I think we can all agree on.
We also have a huge Punjabi population here and for some reason, they have brought their cultural ways here as well. They seem to solve personal grudges with explosives and guns. A local restaurant was bombed like Baghdad just the other day. 2 million dollars damage. Ridiculous!!

England in this chart is so much lower than the US. Pretty much everyone is lower than the US.
I think one has to have intent to kill first, but a gun sure makes it easier to kill someone. Here in our town it's always about drugs. It also seems to be the Asian community involved.
Stupid people buying drugs. Crack in Vancouver is out of control.
Funny thing is that the drug lords have their own efficient system of justice here.
Saves our courts valuable time so we can bust speeders.
