So if eating blood is a sin against Jehovah, can I assume that all Witnesses are vegetarians?

to date JWism has defined my life and i hate that TRUTH
by oompa inand i am finding the adjustment to the real world far more difficult than i ever imagined...i f...it has been about five years since i totally woke up to the fraudulant nwt and then all my other doubts i had carried for years were proved true as well.
but almost all of my few friends are exjw or slack jw's and i feel so isolated...my sons friends are mostly exjw too but not their gf's and they have way more normal friends .
how have you done at replacing lifelong friends and family?

One must hate the truth when the truth is a lie.
I have found that it is hard to find folks not drenched in religion. These folks seem programmed to try to "save" all their friends.
I am quite tired of it all actually.

Not once in my life has anyone pestered me with atheism, but on a daily basis I get badgered by JW"S, televangelists, line ups at fast food restaurants, and even people walking down the street. Propaganda dropped off in public washrooms and religious propaganda scattered everywhere.
I was watching a discussion of astronomy last night on PBS. The discussion focused on a southern feature in the sky called "Cats Eyes". The report indicated that one of the stars appearance took several hundred light years for us to see, and the other 1600 light years away and is possibly 24 times the size of our sun. Carl Sagan said many times "billions and billions of stars". One night many years ago, I was star gazing on the northern tip of Vancouver Island. No light pollution whatsoever. The sky was all aglo as far as the eye could see.
The message? I truly believe that no one on this planet has a clue as to how all of this really appeared. What you believe about the universe, is probably a bunch of B.S.
Agnostics probably are more accurate in their beliefs that most others on planet Earth. Especially down South.

During Jesus' time, people were less than 5' tall. If you look at sr. high school, you will notice most kids well over 6' tall.
Looks like humans have evolved to some extent.
Besides, who says God did not invent evolution?
I remember some religious person I know recently said that dinosaur bones were placed to confuse humans. Like the CREATOR is a joker? Not likely.

100 watt incandescent bulbs banned: What now?
by WTWizard inthis is a trend throughout the world, and the united tyranny of stupidity has joined the ranks of countries where you can no longer get a 100 watt incandescent light bulb.
next year, the 75 watt bulbs go.
and, in 2016, even the halogen lights that replace them are slated for bans.. where to turn to now?

I see some folks complaining about just how horrible CFL bulbs are, but not one soul has complained about 4' and 8' flourescent tubes. They have more mercury in them and use more energy than CFLs, but still outperform incandescent. Where were all of you when in the 60's flourescent tubes began to replace those huge old lamps in stores, parking garages, and car lots, just to name a few?
It is funny that you do have the right to pay more in electricity, but why WOULD you? It's a freakin' light bulb, and there are far more pressing issues in the world.
FYI, my electric bill is about $45 per month, every month. Almost no incandescent inside, but 2 heated aquariums,3 computers, 4 tvs and a freezer in the garage.
It is after all, YOUR money, well, 'till you give it to Con ED.

News from Drudge:
TALLAHASSEE (USA TODAY) — A lawyer for the former chairman of the Florida Republican Party has alleged that former Gov. Charlie Crist paid two men to leave the state to hide his homosexuality.
The allegations are made in a Florida Department of Law Enforcement investigative report in the case of former state party Chairman Jim Greer, who is facing criminal charges for allegedly paying himself to raise money for the Republican Party of Florida. Greer maintains that Crist approved the deal.

Republicans have opposed a lion's share of stimulus measures that once they supported, such as a payroll tax break, which they grudgingly embraced earlier this year. Even unemployment insurance, a relatively uncontroversial tool for helping those in an economic downturn, has been consistently held up by Republicans or used as a bargaining chip for more tax cuts. Ten years ago, prominent conservatives were loudly making the case for fiscal stimulus to get the economy going; today, they treat such ideas like they're the plague.
Traditionally, during economic recessions, Republicans have been supportive of loose monetary policy. Not this time. Rather, Republicans have upbraided Ben Bernanke, head of the Federal Reserve, for even considering policies that focus on growing the economy and creating jobs.
And then, there is the fact that since the original stimulus bill passed in February of 2009, Republicans have made practically no effort to draft comprehensive job creation legislation. Instead, they continue to pursue austerity policies, which reams of historical data suggest harms economic recovery and does little to create jobs. In fact, since taking control of the House of Representatives in 2011, Republicans have proposed hardly a single major jobs bill that didn't revolve, in some way, around their one-stop solution for all the nation's economic problems: more tax cuts for the uber wealthy.
If only the Repugs loved the country as much as they love themselves.
Drudge report....ho hum. Daily Show is far more interesting.

Tinnitus - are you afflicted?
by Glander intap a spoon on a crystal goblet - the ringing sound never stops.
sometimes birds also chirp, it is always there.. otc remedies are useless.
mine started with a workplace situation that could have been prevented with simple ear plugs, but in those days nobody knew that extreme noise over a prolonged time could cause aural nerve damage.

I had a severe case of tinitus 'till last fall. It was in my right ear. Sometime in October, I had a majorly impacted upper left wisdom tooth removed. It took quite an effort to remove and required 3 stitches to close. The result was a lower to no whistling sound in that ear at all now. Perhaps the tooth was resting on a nerve near the ear canal.
Not sure if it will help anyone else. Helped me though.

I believe that government has no business in the bedrooms of its citizens.
