No I wouldn't want to see 10 years into the future. I might not like what I see and then I've got to live with it. Not a good way of going on to my way of thinking.

isn't life crazy?
i just spent 30 days selling christmas trees.
i set there in the rain and cold playing christmas music helping people buy their tree...blessing each and every person who did.... i looked up into the sky and wondered where i will be 10 years from now.

http://www.religioustolerance.org/reltrue.htm .
happened across this article and thought it was really neat.
sheri.
Thank you for the article, I enjoyed reading it. I agree that it is very doubtful, if not impossible, that any church has the absolute truth. I for one am certainly not looking for the "true church" anymore.

hey friends.... been a long time since i've posted.. some of you will remember me.. i still troll in from time to time.. one interesting thing, i'm finally off of paxil now.
my depression was real bad after a bad experience at the borg.
i was on about 40mg for about 5 years - which is a significante dossage.. about a year ago, i started weaing off and six months ago i went completely off of it.. i feel good and very refreshed.
I don't know whether Paxil could cause memory loss, only that my husband has been taking it for 10 years and hasn't experienced it. The mind does sometimes block things off that are traumatic to us, and depression can cause poor memory.
Just my thoughts but when we are believing JW's we are under mind control and have a cult personality. Its like being in the twilight zone or on a different planet apart from the rest of the human race.Perhaps the reason is that when our minds are freed from control we forget periods of time that the cult (false) personality was most dominant.

i went to my gp today.
i go there quite often since he's also my parent's doctor and i bring them to all their appointments.. i take my dad there at least once a month for blood work since he is on blood thinners, so i'm very familiar with the lady who draws blood.. today i had to have blood drawn myself, and the lady inquired about my parents.
she asked if they had had a nice christmas.
God gives us every chance we need to accept him, if we don't, there has to be a pit!"
This isn't my idea of a loving God either and very sad that many people live under the fear of eternal damnation in hell.

to me, the witness religion is either a hardcore group of watchtower dogma believing "kool-aid" drinkers or a group of non-believing, mentally and spiritually lazy zombies who value their friendships and family over principle.. there are those in the middle who i believe are too fragile to even want to think about reality..
The JW religion itself is without doubt a cult. Most JW's are under mind control and believe they have the "Truth". The JW's that have doubts and those that know it is a deception stay in for various reasons. These reasons can be a) not knowing where else to go b) family are JW's so not wanting to lose them c) social life and work revolve around being a JW d) Having devoted life for many years to being a JW, cognitive dissonance overcomes any knowledge that it isn't the "Truth".
There are probably many reasons but these are the main ones IMO.

as you know this movie was banned for jws.
any faithful witness would not watched a non-jw bible movie (even though they do it all the time but that's a different subject.
) i watched it this pass week over a couple of days.
I believe there were some accusations about Mel Gibson being anti-semetic, of which he denied. I too thought the film was extremely violent and found it disturbing, but that doesn't mean it wasn't a fair portrayal of what happened. I remember one Memorial talk I attended many years ago and the elder went into quite a graphic description about the brutality of the Romans.. Apparently quite a few of those sentenced to crucifiction died beforehand because of the the beatings, and birds did pluck at the eyes of those that were being crucified.
I agree with other posters that the WT make such an issue out of "the cross versus the stake", as a way of separating their members from everyone else again (cult control).

we all know that jw's don't baptize babies, but they will baptize them when they become a little older, like 9 or 10 in some cases.
my question is the following.
if they don't baptize children because they are too young, could they refuse someone that's too old?.
If they are unable to know what they are doing because of senile dementia etc then of course not. If this were the case then it would be the same as baptising a baby who had no knowledge of what was happening to them.

No it doesn't matter if someone is 109 years old, they can still get baptised as far as I understand it.

this came up in conversation yesterday.
me and my brother went to an all boys secondary school to complete our education and both of us hated it.
however, our whole school experience was skewed by our cult upringing - especially with the 'end being just around the corner'.. our - never dubbed - cousins on the other hand went to an all girls school and as much as they loved the boys they claim that their girls only schooling was a positive thing for them.. surely it's just an unnatural situation though?.
There is undeniable proof that girls achieve much higher results in schools that are only for girls.

i don't feel comfortable living as an atheist.
i believe the world is far to complex and humans are too incredible to have just occurred.
therefore, if i was to attend a church, which one should i consider?
Experiment until you find a church tha you feel comfortable with. The important difference for me is the understanding that the important "Truth" isn't found in any church but in my personal relationship with God.
