can i please state that i hate absolutley no one on this board.

i would appear that me having a different opinion in certain things, has lead certain people to think i hate them.. this is absolutley not true.

I never thought you hated anyone on JWD Shell. We all have a common enemy in the WT and the saying "United we stand, divided we fall", should be remembered. They would really love it if this forum imploded!!

so my dear friends, how are you all doing ?

it's well known that the holidays seem to bring out more than the usual stress in people.

we see various manifestations of it even in the news.

This has been a very difficult and emotional year for me and to be honest I am feeling low in myself. It feels like I am fighting all the time just to cope with every day life and I am tired with it all. I always try to hide how I am really feeling by putting on a brave face because I don't like to go on a self-pity trip. Sometimes I get the urge to drown my sorrows with alcohol but for me that would mean breaking my lengthy sobriety and only lead to catastrophe. All my life I have felt different and alone, from the time my parents died when I was still a child and having to get by without any help or support. When I became a JW I thought I had found something wonderful, but it all turned out to be a huge deceptive cult that want to punish me for knowing what they are by taking my son and grand daughter away from me. I have been told that I am a strong woman and I guess I am, but sometimes I feel very fragile inside.

The British Government is calling on the United States to do more to protect the world's environment, on the eve of a crucial climate summit in Japan.

Britain's Environment Minister, Michael Meacher, said he appreciated that the American authorities faced a difficult battle against the country's industrial lobby but believed they could do more.

Key talks on climate change open in Kyoto on Monday when countries will try to agree legally-binding targets on so-called greenhouse gas emissions.

Britain wants carbon dioxide from transport and industry cut by 20% by 2010 because many scientists believe the gas is contributing to a global warming.

The US, which is wedded to the car economy, proposes only to peg its carbon dioxide emissions at 1990 levels by 2008-12.

British Environment Minister Michael Meacher

Mr Meacher told BBC1's Panorama programme, to be broadcast on Monday night in the UK: "We are, in effect, leading the world. We are taking the toughest line over carbon dioxide not because we want to be arrogant or to make a political point, simply because we feel it is necessary.

"They [the United States] certainly ought to be making, in our view, a bigger effort.

"But I do think you have to take into account that in America, as opposed to Europe, there is an extremely hostile political and industrial climate."

Mr Meacher says President Clinton has probably gone as far as he can for the moment.

"I believe that in future years, and indeed I hope at Kyoto, he is going to be pressed to go further, and indeed the whole world is going to have to go further," he said.

I do think Britain is committed to the cause and as individuals we are much more aware of our life-styles now and how we can co-operate. We have recyle bins for everything now, use less energy etc.

i am sort of shocked and wonder if i pulled this same kind of sh*t as a witness.

i already know jw's believe they are better than everyone else, what with being god's only chosen people and all that.. well, i am sitting at my table, minding my own business.

there is a group of six jw's at the next table, three adults, three kids.

Do JW's really care for one another?

do you think that the jw's in your congregation care if you're living your life to the fullest or if you're happy?.

I think that individual JW's care about the ones they are close to but of course they still follow the WT rules so even close relationships are conditional. I suspect that they don't like to know that an exJW is happy and doing well without them as not only does it cause them confusion and dissonance, they might be secretly envious.

Advice on making up with DF sister

i've decided to ring my sister who i haven't talked to in 17 years because she's been disfellowshipped.

i recently awoke from my drooling jw trance and realized what a shit i've been all these years.. i plan to apologize first.

i'm really nervous about it.. any advice?.

Just be honest, say how sorry you are that you were deluded by the WT and how you now know how wrong it was to treat her as you did. The rest is up to her and hopefully she will be overjoyed to have you back in her life. My best wishes that it goes well.

How can they care more about their meetings than their family?

i have not posted for a good while now as have not felt the need, .

am living in the real world away from jdub hell.. escaped dissing and now have a few friends (some ex jdub and some that have no clue what a jdub is!!

my sister and i were extremely close but my departure has seperated us and we now rarely see each other.

The shame of it is that they really think they are doing the right thing because didn't you know it's a mortal sin to put family before a meeting!

Does time fly by faster now that you don't go to meetings anymore?

without a doubt, time flies by much faster now that i don't have to prepare and go to meetings.

There's more time to do other things now without the JW meetings, field service, preparation time etc which is great. It should mean that there is much more time but it doesn't always seem like it and I think it's because enjoyable time always passes quickly and work and drudgery go on endlessly.
