Guys!! Guys!!! Two Jehovah's Witnesses were just at my door!!
by ziddina inand of course, i had some fun with them... an older, brunette woman who obviously dyes her hair and could stand to lose a bit of weight, and a slim blonde teenage girl - probably around 15 - 17.... i started out by asking them if they knew how old the bible was.... .
(and unfortunately, i think i demonstrated that i wouldn't make a very good "undercover" bible study prospect... .
but they didn't even know how old - young - the bible was!!.

PM me if you would like some ideas for kid-friendly bible discussions. I have done lots of it for my kids, mainly because I want them to develop a sense of spirituality without being bogged down by religious dogma. There are tons of common sense lessons in morality and social responsibility in the bible if you look for it.

She will give the paper to her father. She believes that it is poisoned with apostate teachings (true) and the only way to "cure" you is to have an elder help you. She trusts him more -you said that. Also, 200 pages is intimidating for anyone. As a copy editor for theses and dissertations, I can tell you that it is hard to read that much research, even with an interesting subject.
How about this idea: Ask your wife to help you design a family study for your daughter. My folks did bible stories for us, very simple. Each of you read the story from the bible yourselves. Tell your daughter the story or act it out with your wife. Then, ask the kid to tell you what the story teaches her about God. Focus on the loving and forgiving nature and try to downplay the killing and judgment. This opens the discussion without getting your wife's defenses up. She will become accustomed to thinking of God on her own using the bible and eventually she will see that it does not jive with WT teachings. Once she realizes that the JW view of God is not accurate, she will start to question the other things. Be subtle and woo her away, don't try to force it. Good luck and welcome to JWN.

FADERS: How determined are you?
by VampireDCLXV inafter being here on jwn for a while, one does see a spectrum of sorts.
there are people here in various stages of their exit from their lives as jws.
some are full fledged kh and fs attendees whom we call "the conscious class".

I remember the moment I realized that I didn't care if I were DF'd. It was 3 years ago and it was like a shattering mirror in my mind. All of the sudden, I just knew... It took 9 years out to get there.

letter to the elders about wanting to fade
by focariedu21 ini wrote a letter to the elders of my congregation about my family wanting to fade and voicing my disgust at the way they handled matters with my self and family whilst i was in their congregation as we were treated with contempt and so were my children just because we were different.
i personaly sacrificed my entire life for these brothers giving and giving and giving my self materially and physically, and every other way possible together with my family to the point of loosing all my posessions including my family and most recently my mother who contracted parkinsons.
as you all know we looked after her for many years together with my wife and kids without the help of the congregation nor my siblings.

I agree with leaving; just walk away and don't look back. Who cares what they think? Enjoy the other 99.9% of the population. :D

Can one be true to oneself and not appear selfish to your love ones?
by jam inbeing true to oneself is a skill.
it might be the single most.
improtant skill we can acquire.

Accusing someone of being selfish is usually an attempt to guilt that person into doing something against their will. Which is selfish of the accuser. My ex-husband had the nerve to call me selfish when I left him after he beat me to a pulp and tried to choke me in front of our child. He said I was only thinking of myself. Point: People who yell "selfish!!" with a finger pointing, are usually the selfish one.

If you wanted to fade, you shouldn't have written a letter. 'Fade' isn't an option they offer, it is something you do without them knowing. It sounds like your wife and kids are with you, so focus on that instead of the JWs.

Put some in the bathroom stalls. That way someone can read or tuck one away in private. But not every stall at the same time, because one zealous person will clear the rest out and sound the alarm for the attendants to check it out. Also, the nursing women's room. Good luck :)
