You can spray it with wasp spray. It sprays farther and straighter than pepper spray, but is just as irritating. You could probably succeed in training the dog to stay away from your property that way. I would also call animal control every time you see the dog loose. Don't kill it, though, unless it charges and you have to.

JW nephew graduation party cancelled... your insight is requested
by Alfred ini have a jw nephew in another state who was at very the top of his high school senior class this year.
because of this, my sister (an elder's wife) had planned and sent out invitations to his "graduation party" which would be held at a community center with all the bells and whistles.
i actually bought plane tickets for my wife and i to attend this party immediately after receiving the invitation in the mail.

That sort of jealousy is just as disgusting in females.
That is a cruel way to punish your nephew. But maybe it will help him see the ridiculousness of the org and possibly take his "top of the class" intelligence off to college somewhere.
Perhaps encouraging higher education is the best course of action. It doesn't trip the apostate warning bells and will lead to more critical thinking.

Was Jesus speaking to his disciples alone or Jehovahs Witnesses too?
by TimothyT ini no longer go to meetings or on field service and am now fading.
as my life is changing rapidly, im reading certain things in the bible and questioning how the jws percieve them.. for example, i read through the book of john before and wondered whether the jws like to apply all of jesus words to his close disciples, to themselves.. is everything said in the gospels and other parts of the bible to be applied by jehovahs witnesses today or do they just cherry pick their favourites or those which support their doctrines?.
what about context?

I don't remember Jesus saying anything about Jehovah's Witnesses. Any words attributed to him by his followers, hundreds of years later, were meant for followers of Jesus.
I think that all words written by anyone anywhere are meant for the person who finds them meaningful. If the words speak to you, they are meant for you.

What's Your Most Valuable Piece Of Jewelry That You Own?
by minimus ini have a presidential rolex with a diamond bezel that's a beauty and a couple of rings and that's all i ever wear.
i never liked chains or bracelets on me.. what's your best piece of jewelry?
?.

My most financially valuable jewelry are the diamond earrings that my first husband gave me that I am keeping, along with my engagement and wedding ring, for my sons when they get older.
But, the piece that is most valuable to me is the mother and child pendant that my dad got me when I was pregnant with my firstborn. It is a mom profile and a baby profile looking at each other carved into a blue/white stone.

I'm with Paralipomenon. There are several scriptures that say that only God can read hearts and that only He can judge us to be righteous or unrighteous. The best part of this defense is that it is in line with JW doctrine, even though it does not show in their policies. (df'ing, marking)
Let her say what she will, then show her those scriptures. My mom told me that she wasn't judging, that the bible condemns the evildoers. I pointed out that the bible is an inanimate object and could not condemn anyone; that she was making that call based on her interpretation of the bible. Then, I told her to relax and let God do his job, judging our heart condition, and just focus on her own salvation. Finish off by asking her if it feels less stressful to lay her burden (of judging you worthy of death) on Jehovah. My mom said yes...
This is a much easier approach than trying to discredit her religion or her holy book. Good luck!

You should eat this cake. Are you gay?
by Cali Guy inthat question has been asked to me countless times ever since i can remember.
(the gay part, haha.
) reluctantly, i would quickly put an end to their thinkg with a swift, "no".. four days ago, after a couple of very strenuous months (years if you count the time i didn't except myself), i came out to my cousin (roommate).

Congratulations!! Life is so much sweeter when you can breathe the free air! I hope that you will be able to let go of all the negative thoughts about homosexuality. My friend, K, had such a hard time accepting himself after all of the poisonous thoughts he had absorbed from his years in the "truth."

I have a confession to make....

I do that before sending PMs to anyone or if I receive a PM from someone I haven't seen post very much. I usually find a story and can respond better to their comments.
But then I noticed that I never put MY story up when I started and then when I came back from a little hiatus, I thought it was too late to "introduce" myself. Maybe my posts have said enough, who knows.

When I look around this forum I also see many people who are suffering because they left the JWs. However, I do NOT believe that they would suffer less if they had not left. The difference is that the pain of leaving will fade with time, while the pain of staying will never die.
We all made the decision to leave (either by choosing to walk away or by not jumping through the hoops to be reinstated after being thrown out) We knew, to some degree, how bad it could be to lose family and friends.
Just because we CHOSE to leave, knowing the consequences, doesn't mean it doesn't still hurt. This is a place where we can find comfort while dealing with those consequences.
Maybe you aren't ready to leave yet; that is fine. But, I would say that most people who post on this forum have generally made the decision to leave; they are simply waiting for the correct time.
Just my 2 cents.
