  do we have the right to judge god?.

  this is an important question.

  non-believers often become and remain non-believers because they judge that god is incomprehensible or malevolent, and therefore of dubious existence in the form believers claim.

  We have every right to question God and make judgment calls on what we see as His/Her actions. Abraham and Moses both questioned God's fairness on occasion and, in fact, changed His/Her mind.

  I would suggest, however, that anyone judging God think about why they expect God to interfere in our lives and do certain things and why they believe that God is even capable of doing certain things. Who says that God, if S/He exists, is anything close to what humankind imagines.

  I question God constantly.

  sometimes, i think, our western values have drilled in us the importance of "winning" a debate on something of non-importance.. so is "winning" a debate really important?.

  The debates I enjoy the most are the ones where we both win. I consider it a win if I have competently articulated my argument and supported it with explanation. If the other person does as well, then s/he has won as well. No one has to change their view, just consider the argument from the opposite side.

  Sometimes, I think, our western values have drilled in us the importance of "winning" a debate on something of non-importance.

  Do you have a culture in mind that represents the opposite?

  I told the baptist church pastor that I'm gay!

  his reaction wasnt as liberal as i hoped it would be.

  he said that we needed to discuss it.

  however, gone are the days where im putting myself in the firing line and not sticking up for myself.

  A quick addition: I have a friend who is a Christian Reverend who attends a UCC congo, and her church, as well as maybe four other Christian churches in my area truly support homosexual couples. There are others that claim to be supportive, but the "tolerant" word comes up a lot. I feel that word covers up discrimination, as they still believe it is sinful; they hate the sin and love the person. That is so hypocritical...

  I read an article written last year from a conservative rabbi explaining the context of so called "anti-gay" bible verses in Leviticus that was very enlightening, but I am having trouble finding it with google.

  Homosexuality is not an issue within Judaism unless you go ultra-orthodox. There are, and have been, gay rabbis (male and female) for over a decade in Reform and Conservative congregations, and recently I read of the first gay orthodox rabbi ordained. There are 2 couples in our congregation who are homosexual and one of the female couple is our Board President. Both couples had a Jewish wedding ceremony in the temple even though they cannot legally marry in our state. And we just had a naming ceremony for the males' new adopted daughter this past Friday evening.

  The point is, according to some interpretations of scripture, homosexuality is not a sin. So, Timothy, don't settle for a place that merely tolerates how God made you; find a place that embraces you just how God made you.

  Yes, they love those at the door so much that several times every day they pray that an event that will claim the lives of everyone not within the JW group, and even some within. Those whom they refer to as "mentally diseased," they hate because it is appropriate to hate what Jah hates.

  After leaving the Faith, do you celebrate all of the Holidays?

  i could never understand how some who don't follow some of the moral restrictions in the jw faith, are strong against celebrating the .

  religious holidays such as christmas, and easter etc.. do you celebrate the holidays knowing some of their origins?.

  Yeah it is an interesting transition, but I have just never been Christian.

  There are a ton of Jewish holidays! And they all involve drinking wine at some point.

  I was born in. Faded at 18. Converted to Catholicism at 26. Left that at 28 after trying without success to believe in Jesus- I really tried... Now at 32 I am an agnostic, and working toward converting to Reform Judaism. I like the community worship and service along with the freedom to question and no pressure to believe anything specific.

  yes apparently the staff at the twin towers on 9/11 didn't notice the explosives strapped to all the beams on each floor......of course a plane fully loaded with jet fuel going so fast it nearly flew through the building {blew out the otherside} would not be enough to cause a collapse.

  the building were glowing red!

  people jumped due to the heat and smoke.

  We celebrate all of the Jewish holidays, national holidays, and a very low-key secularized version of Christmas (no Jesus, just Santa) because we are slowly making our way over to Judaism and I don't want to mess with the kid's stuff any more than I have to. We celebrate the heck out of Chanukah, even though it is not a very big holiday in Judaism.

  I have no issues with what JWs say are the original origins of any holiday:

  1) Because they exaggerate the similarities with pagan religious symbols beyond any reasonable logic, and

  2) Because I know what holidays mean to me and >99.9% of the world's population: time spent with family (religious or not)

  I have tried out every fun holiday at least once from all of the religions I can find online. Who doesn't need more days to celebrate?
