I was one of those "replacements" (or so I was lead to believe) and I was born in 1935. I heard it over and over again from elders when I was a child that 1935 was the last year for the "little flock" but that there would be those who fall away from the "little flock" and would be replaced with others who were "busy in Jehovah's theocratic society".

Massive donations to the WTS
by greendawn inhave any of you or people that you know such as relatives or friends, made a very significant donation to the wts?
by that i mean property, or money in excess of let's say $10 000. .
enriching an already very rich organisation has to be moronic, they are the ones that should be helping the poor among them the proverbial orphans and widows.

These stories are heart wrenching and simply disgusting!
My family donated large sums of money to them on a regular basis in Germany, Denmark and the general area until the Nazi war. This is something I only recently found out about and was the straw that broke the camel's back for me and my children, grandchildren and great grand children.
I used to donate but not in large sums. Something always told me that if I donate, it should be to a charitable institute. That is where my family now puts contributions. -

The last kh I attended had a watchtower (turret) as a part of the "KH of JW's" sign. Most of them had this. On one I remember a sticker of the wt symbol with the Bible (as shown in the tie clips above on the door and in the window of the book room.
About the masonic symbol of the cross and crown...can that be qualified as a genuine masonic symbol, or at least, can it be determined that it originates from freemasonry? I was under the impression that there are various religious groups that use that symbol that have no connection to freemasonry. I am just curious if anyone has researched that before. Apologies for moving off topic. -

JW Science Quote Of The Day 9-3
by TD injw science blunders arent always the result of misunderstanding the working principles of the phenomenon being discussed.
sometimes theyre simply the result of not properly researching a secular quote that dovetails with the worldview of the jw leadership.
todays jw science quote of the day is a good example: .

The WT has a history of these scientific blunders and even some of those they quote have missed the boat by a long shot. This page has some other examples, http://www.premier1.net/~raines/quackery.html including their rant against aluminium. Even after the war on aluminium ended, I still remember my grandmother and some of the older sisters still not permitting any aluminium in their houses. They were so obsessed with it like it was possessed with demons. Sighhhh.

Help from elders?
by arker inso as an elder, if you have left or are fading now, what specific things made you change your mind?
is there some thing that most regular meeting goers would not be privy to that made you change?
i know that you had your elder book, was there stuff in there that was out of line that made you stop and go "no way!"?.

greendawn said: "In my view the elder arrangement is a shambles as far as the R&F are concerned but it's geared up well to serving the interests of the GB and the WTS in general. They are not properly trained and professionally constituted to deal with the complex issues that members may face and they never "help" anyone unless by doing so they promote the interests of the org."
I agree. As a former elder of many years, working at Bethel for a longtime and being a part of what I thought was the "little flock" (my grandsons call it something else), God is not really in the picture. It is not about "Jehovah", but about the organization and following procedures, rank and file, doing your best to serve the organization and making the circuit and district overseers happy.
I hope to have a book complete before I die about my experiences as an elder and the crap I saw over the years with the many changes in doctrine and policy.
Now that I think back about all this, no wonder there are so many JW's that are afflicted with schizophrenia. -

Do You Recognize Your Baptism?
by sweetstuff ini was promised that this generation would no means pass away.
(live forever book, pg.
154) i brought this up, although it has probably been discussed before, because i am sure some people right now are worrying how to handle an elder's visit or call.

No, I do not recognize my "baptism". I underwent "water immersion" in 1953 when I was a lad of 18. I do not recognize it as a valid baptism since it was not actually dedicated to God but to the "new world society" instead. But still, it was not until the 1980's that I started questioning the validity of the Society and it was still years afterwards that I officially broke free, but I still feel the affects daily and so does my family of which many are still inside the Tower.
