Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the little booklet called "Bible Topics for Discussion" published by the Society?
This is a larger version (more pages) of what is printed in the back of the smaller NW translation.
Has about 30-32 pages, printed on "Bible paper" and covers several topics. Very small, about the height and width of the WT tracts. We used to use it in pioneering a lot, not for distribution but for quick reference.
A scan of this publication would be nice, or I would purchase an actual printed one if the price is reasonable. Thanks,
Stephen

1 - Is it true that the witnesses no longer disfellowship? If so, what is the reasoning behind this?
2 - When one is deemed an apostate is there a public statement made in the various congregations with which the apostate may have been associated with? If not, how do they know who is officially apostate?
3 - If a person has left the church and has had no religious connection to the church for many many years, can that person still be made an apostate if they speak openly against the church?
4 - What are the actual rules about how an apostate person should be treated? Can family still speak to them if it is not about scriptual isses? Are witnesses in general able to speak to an apostate if it is not about scriptural issues?
1. There were some "slight" changes in the way inactive publishers were treated several years ago, but the disfellowshipping practice continues and probably will until there's no longer a Society.
2. Yes, there is a statement made that "so and so is no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses, that they have been disfellowshipped".
3. No one is able to talk to an "apostate". They are shunned by former "friends" and family members. Someone who left the Kingdom Hall without being disruptive is usually termed as an "inactive publisher". If they get into trouble (for example, breaking the JW rules) they can still be disfellowshipped - even without being called to a "judicial hearing". The Elder's Handbook says, "If the sinful conduct is known only to believing family members and no congregation action is taken because of the factors outlined above, believing relatives will likely determine to curtail family association severely, viewing the relative as bad association. (1 Cor. 15:33) If the individual still professes to be a Witness and is willing to meet with the judicial committee, the matter should be handled in the normal way. However, when factors such as possible legal action exist, it is best to consult the Society before proceeding."
4. Total shunning. No speaking with them for any reason.... except in the case of family members, they are allowed to talk about family emergency issues but that's about it. The elder's hand book says, "When minors are disfellowshipped, parents are still responsible for raising, training, and teaching them, even studying with them if the minors are in their home."

More thought control / conditioning in the KM
by logic&reason ini was bored last night during the meeting, so i decided to read the question box in the km.. it was about when you should and should not applaud at the meetings.
apparently someone wrote in to see if it was appropriate to applaud after each tms or sm part.
geez these people need to get a grip.. anyway, the gb has been so gracious as to outline when it is ok to clap, and when we should just sit like mindless drones while the spreaker(s) leaves the stage.

Building On Pagan Foundations - WT website
by BluesBrother ini once commented on this old article, in a post, but i see that it has been given a new lease of life on the official wt website.
the odd thing is that they themselves of course are quite happy to take an old church and convert it into a kingdom hall.
one of my old congos looked hard at one.

This is typical of WT speak. One of the halls I was in was an old church.

Identifying the "faithful and and discreet slave"
by tfjw inidentifying the "faithful and and discreet slave".
this question is mainly for former jws who consider themselves christians.
i'm wondering what or who, now that you are no longer in the society, you believe this "faithful and wise servant" ("faithful and discreet slave") is.

Terry, thanks for your excellent input. You put this quite well. I was curios what others thought on this matter from their own denominational perspective.
Perry, I'll look at the video when I get a chance. I'm familiar with New Age Bible Versions book and some of the personal opinions of the author. Thanks for the link.
Personally I belive this includes the entire body of Christians who are given the responsibility to teach in one manner or another.
Thanks everyone.
