perhaps this is naive of me-
by Younglove1999 inso about a month ago, i finally "confessed" to my jw friend that my husband and i haven't been to a meeting since february.
we're in different halls, so she wasn't aware of our inactivity.
when i told her, i didn't explain any details about what lead us to stop going, other than the normal "we're confused- so much going on, new baby, etc" stuff.

So about a month ago, I finally "confessed" to my JW friend that my husband and I haven't been to a meeting since February. We're in different halls, so she wasn't aware of our inactivity. When I told her, I didn't explain any details about what lead us to stop going, other than the normal "we're confused- so much going on, new baby, etc" stuff. She seemed like she understood where I came from except towards the end of our conversation she pretty much said "well, you know where I stand" and I took that as her way of ending our friendship. Why? I don't know. I haven't done anything wrong- I didn't say anything that could raise flags about my disdain for the organization. Well, we haven't talked since and we never go this long without talking. We were really close friends- And *poof* she's gone. I'm actually going back and forth between being sad and angry. Like why doesn't she want to "encourage" me? Even though I want nothing to do with the Org. I'm just baffled that she just dropped me high and dry and I'm not even df'd or da'd.
I really want to call her- I know it's not going to get me anywhere, but I just want to say "hey what the heck is going on? I tell you I'm confused and in a rut and you drop me just like that?!"
*sigh* And my other friend is pregnant and due in 2 months (also a JW) and since I've confessed to my friend (above paragraph), I also haven't heard from her. In fact, I haven't heard from a single one of our "friends". Like we've been black listed.
I expect at some point that we won't be associating with them because we have no intention of going back, but man talk about slamming the door on us. And I'm not even invited to my friend's shower.
I can't just leave it like that, since I know it's going to be viewed as ME leaving them- even though my attempts at being their friends are futile and no matter what I do, being JW's they'll twist things-
I dont know-
I'm just frustrated. Any thoughts or suggestions?

2007- Witness Meetings= Why can't women wear pants/trousers??
by Witness 007 inwhen my mum went to her first meeting she was dressed to perfection, she wore nice ladies dress trouser/pants.
the witness stuying with her told her it was "not apropriate" to wear this to the meeting...in 2006 i was in a congregation where a sister would put a skirt on over her pants she wore to work.
it looked weird, but the pants ban still is in force 2007.

"No garb of an able-bodied man should be put upon a woman, neither should an able-bodied man wear the mantle of a woman; for anybody doing these things is something detestable to Jehovah your God.
this is why I never wore underwear to the meetings-
I'm in a silly mood this afternoon-

#4 Talk on Tues Sept 25 - Blood
by still_in74 inhey all, i have to give a #4 talk on tuesday.
topic:.
"why true christians do not accept blood transfusions".
-
Younglove1999
JW's do not accept blood transfusions. The Bible tell us to "abstain" from blood. The FDS has interpreted "abstain" to mean refrain from ingesting blood by any means. We can, however, accept itsy bitsy bits of blood called "fractions" and still somehow be abstaining in the stikctest sense. This can not be proven logically, but that does not matter, as JW's are not encouraged to use their brain for thinking.
Say that from the platform and tell us how it goes.

or is it in the scripture about the Adornement of jewlery and braiding of the hair?
I actually had a "double wardrobe". I had my "wear to the kingdom hall/gatherings" side of the closet and then my "wear out in the world" closet which consisted of low cut shirts, shorter skirts, long slits in the skirts, etc. We rarely took pictures on vacation because that's when I really dressed it up "worldly-style"
Towards the "end" I started combining my wardrobe- I didn't care- if a brother wanted to comment to me about my dress and grooming then I was ready to tell him to stop staring-
Once when I was 16 I had this dress that had a slit and I wore it up on stage- apparently when I walked off stage, people got a glimpse of my *GASP* thigh!! Like 5 elders came up to me to counsel me on it. If some guy EVER came up to my daughter to tell her that she needs to watch out for thigh exposure, I'd slap them.
Again- back to my whole gripe- why did my mom allow this?
maybe I need counseling- I just can't get over that my parents subjected me to this-

my husband and I always shared inside jokes-
once American Idol became popular, we started "judging" the people on the stage giving their parts-
when my mother in law was in our hall we had to interpret for her since she was deaf- many times I'd go up to my husband during the meeting and whisper things in his ear- and he'd do the same when I was signing- anythign from "personal stuff" to "gossip"
towards the "end" (before we left) he did sound and I couldn't sit with him, so I always saved the row right in front of the sound and put all my bags there (I hated people sitting in my row), and we'd always give each other looks depending on what was discussed- We had so much fun-
we were always on the same page- my husband is awesome
