  JW Cyclone report - Myanmar (Burma)

  this is from a ham operator:.

  the tragic situation in myanmar (burma) is impacting on us all.

  this morning we heard that 100,000 have died and possibly many more!

  I'm sure that impact of these few people has little affect on the whole situation and I'm also sure that there are other groups whether they be catholics, muslims, baptists etc. that are helping others on the same scale the braggers are we just don't hear them blowing their horns as I'm sure they don't hear the witlesses blowing theirs.

  Maybe Brooklyn should send money to this area to help all people just like other religions, governments, and charitable organizations. That would be a shout of praise to God that everyone would hear.

  But they probably can't spare the funds right now they have to set large for payouts to those that have been abused.

  Try fading gradually. First miss a meeting here and there then stop going to book studies once your family stops bugging you. Then miss more and more, TMS/SM's then stop altogether while missing a few Sunday meetings first leave after the PT then stop going. within a year you'll be done with it all. I haven't been to a meeting in over a year now and it's great. Best thing I ever did. Once in a while someone stops by while out on a Saturday and tells me they miss me. I thank them, they move on and that's it. LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!

  Falling Asleep at Assemblies

  yes i have dozed off many times when i used to attend.

  most of the time kept the shades on as we used to have outside assemblies.

  the thing was not to slide off the chair, drop your head forward or snore.. i've seen some brothers/sister hitting a serious lean to the left or right as they slept and then they'd jerk awake, only to lean again.. some people had sneaky methods.

  King of the North where is he hanging out?

  have we had any new light on who the king of the north is at the present time because i need a reminder .i haven't read anything about him since the 1960s.and the last time i tried explaining it to a little old lady at the door the russian missiles were on the their way to cuba and the late night news reader, that night ,said " goodnight everyone and i hope you all have a peaceful and restfull night," which was very unusual because radio announcers did not comment after the news in those days.. thunder and lightning, frightning very very frightning, bealzeebub moma mia moma mia!.

  folks are about as happy as they decide to be.. looking on the bright side of life gives you more of a foothold when things go awry.

  nurturing hope builds a foundation for you which enables you to save for tomorrow and build toward the future and hang on when things get tough.. people dig their own graves when they become pessimists.

  "why bother" replaces "that's worth a try!".

  i remember in my teen years thinking about the constant warnings of satan "transforming himself into an angel of light" and wondering how in the world did i stand a chance against a demon?!

  a demon thats had thousands of years to suss things out and trick people in various different ways without them even knowing.

  he led angels to rebellion.

  A number of times as a JW elder I went to homes where the dub thought they had demons they would throw everything they thought might be possesed including pictures, video games, containters etc. etc. the demons never went away. I think the only container that need to be cleaned out was their heads.

  Over the past 20 years the borg has discreetly removed the thoughts and notions of demons possesing people and moved the issue to mental problems. Has anyone else noticed that?

  i haven't been around jwd much these past few months, mainly because i've been busy with many other different things.

  that is all the bait.

  most people know that the jehovah's witnesses are not there "just to talk about the bible".

  The tendency is to "go along with the crowd".

  You make a good point. I remember a study that was done years ago at the University of Michigan where a group of ten were put into a room to answer multiple choice questions, nine were told what to answer for each question even though the answer would be wrong, the other person was not told anything. The video shows the agnst this one person went through when each person around the room gave the same answer but it was not the right one.

  At first, the person gave the correct answer despite the 9 wrong answers but as the questioning went on this university student finally succumbed to the peer pressure and went along with the group even though he knew he was giving the wrong answer.

  The questioning went somthing like this:

  The capitol of Michigan is:

  A. Grand Rapids

  B. Kalamazoo

  C. Detroit

  D. Lansing

  Each person answered A and when the uniformed was ready to answer he said A also though he knew the correct answer was D

  the one good thing about getting older like this is that it brings us that much closer to the new system.
