Linguistics misunderstanding - please help.

many times i see somebody posting about something that irks them and they say "i could care less.
" but they use it in such a way as to infer they're not really bothered by it all.. .

I believe it simply means: "I find this so unimportant that I don't care about it and if I wanted to I could even care less then I do"
"I couldn't care less" implies that one is at the bottom of caring which would also mean "I don't care at all"
"I could care less" implies that one does not find something important enough to care much about however they could even care less if they chose to think about it long enough.

Spring Assembly - The Time is Reduced
by jgnat ini'm back from the spring assembly, theme "the time left is reduced", 1 corinthians 7:29. the presentations were smug in the face of a torrent of world wide tough news stories.
these should be the glory days for the assemblies.
however, attendance is down, significantly.

i have found that when i do get a chance to say something to a dub about this they usually say "we don't judge so we can't say who will be destroyed" the borg was kind enough to put it in writing for me:.

So the WTS has painted itself into a theological corner. Fortunately for the WTS, most JWs don't think about such things. And those that do rationalize it using "wait on Jehovah" and similar thought-stopping techniques.
I love bringing this issue of people being destroyed up to jdubs when I can. I love to watch them try to skirt around the belief. One of the things I mention is the rate of the world's population growth compared to the rate of jdub growth and I point out to them that every day God waits more people will die at Armageddon. It is a great source of cognitive dissonance for people who are not supposed to want anyone to die at Armageddon.

I think this is a real chink in the spiritual armor of Jehovah's Witnesses. Most of them don't believe this teaching in any way shape or form. Yet the teaching is still in force no new light yet.
This is a good example of cognitive dissonance in all it's glory. I even had a prominent elder admit to me he didn't believe that every one other then Jdubs were getting killed at Armageddon.
