stopped in a local eatery this evening for their famous vegetarian enchilada casserole and there was a man in there, an elder in a local congregation who i was aquatinted with (he did some work for me at my home) and we know his wife.

he was in the same congregation i was in for a time.. i went over to him to say hi and shake his hand and when i reached out he pulled his hand away so i looked over at his partner who was obviously a bible study and reached out to shake his hand and as i did i said to him the reason he wont shake my hand is that hes mad because i dont go to meetings anymore.

i walked away and nothing else was said.. .

I totally know what you mean, I thought about not saying anything or evern going over to him however I decided I didn't want to be like them. If I can be pleasent to those that I know I will. If they choose not to be pleasent back it's their choice. I was not trying to sway this study I was just blown away at the ignorance of this man who made the choice he did. I was mostley doing a check to see what would happen. This person has aged badly by the way.

i spoke with an elder about university

he always tells me that i've adopted him as a father...we're pretty close.

i spoke with him asking for some advice about whether or not to pursue my degree.he, to my surprise, couldn't give me his opinion.he told me that if he tells me how he really feels (he says he has some strong views on the matter) he may be disciplined for 'promoting higher education'....in effect he was telling me to go ahead and pursue my degree but not really saying it.

he asked me to promise him that i'll speak to the presiding overseer and the circuit overseer....i haven't as yet.

.this is crazy!!!! there is no bible principle! nothing! so what, i cant serve Jehovah while in university?

The principle that is used to discourage higher education is based on the scriptue that says the world is passing away and so is it's desires.

So the bORG's questions is why would you want to spend large amounts of time getting an education of higher learning when you could be pursuing spiritual things like pioneering.

This spin is based on the fact that the bORG teaches that this world does not have long before it destroyed by God so why waste your time.

The real reason is that you will learn critical thinking and will eventually start asking questions they can't really answer.

ADVERTISE, ADVERTISE, ADVERTISE The bORG and it's bullshit.

That video was no different then any other self promotion video being shown about any number of organizations through out the world.

We were supposed to show this video to our bible students in hopes that it would fire them up to become a part of the giant promotional organization that the bORG is. Was it effective? I doubt it.
