The guy behind the little girl looks like Samuel L. Jackson's character from Pulp Fiction. Or it's a mormon wearing a sombrero.

Kids Still Get Whacked @ Armageddon. Current Light. (With Pix!)
by Open mind inif you've clicked around on other sites, you can find the troubling picture i grew up with from the old orange paradise lost book.
a big old armageddon earthquake that is swallowing up people, churches, a bicycle, a dog!
) and of course, a little girl in a dress that is indelibly planted in my memory chips.

One of the models for that painting of the "bad grapes" is an uncle of mine who's still at Brooklyn bethel.

Abstain from Blood...
by hotchocolate inmy first post was a few days ago now, and finally my heart has stopped pounding whenever i log on.. :-).

Hotchocolate, glad you appreciated it. As for the further research, a really great website to delve into is www.talkorigins.org It's very non-threatening, clear and well-documented with lots of annotated references to scientific source material. Their section on the biblical flood is what pushed me out of the Witnesses.

The only thing you need to knock down the blood policy is Matthew chapter 12.
I don't even believe in the divine inspiration of the Bible anymore, but when I read that chapter it is downright impossible to argue in favor of refusing blood at the risk of dying, ESPECIALLY when children are involved.
That would have been tantamount to Jesus telling his disciples that if a lamb fell into a pit on the sabbath you had to let the lamb die because the sabbath is sacred. In fact the sabbath was a helluva lot more sacred than the dietary restrictions on blood, you'd be stoned to death for violating the sabbath but merely considered unclean and "cut off" from the camp for a while if you ate unbled meat.
As the chapter shows, that is the exact opposite of what Jesus was trying to convey.
Good luck on your journey, but be warned that now you've fallen down the rabbit-hole there's no telling how far you'll go. Another topic of research you might enjoy is the global flood and the age of mankind and, when you're ready for it, evolution. -

Ex-Jw dating sites?
by Mizz.Eye ini am lonely.
i am young, but i feel it would be nice to finally have a close friend and if i turn out to love and want to commit then even better.
the regular dating sites don't do it.

I've wondered the same thing, but I fear the membership pool would be too small and thinly spread out to be workable.

Evolution is a religious teaching
by lrkr ini kid you not.
page 16 of 1/1/08 wt.
"although evolution is usually presented in scientific language, it is really a religious doctrine.".

I find it is fruitless to try and show somebody the error of a literal biblical view of earth's history when they are hell-bent on believing it. My uncle has a PhD in psychology but he believes in the biblical flood. I've tried to show him scientific evidence to the contrary but he reverts much to the same attacks as rollerdave and refuses to acknowledge anything that might damage his beliefs. The jury is not "out" on evolution, either. It is as valid as the theory of gravity.

Eve, 1975 and time
by JWdaughter inok, this is a bit off the cuff.
and it was inspired by a comment made by someone about cain.
if adam was 130 when seth was born, then we know that eve was not 130 at that time.

It's still arguing about fictional characters. Archeology shows that humans have been around way before Adam's supposed creation in 4026 BC.

Doesn't seem like an isolated phenomenon. A friend's younger sister got pregnant from a 30-something "pioneer brother" at a party after having way too much to drink.

What do you think about Demons now?
by tooktheredpill inhi guys!.
as many of you know, i'm still inside the borg, but my mind is completely disconnected.
i had a chat with some friends during the week, and they started sharing experiences they had, dealing with demons in the past.. i heard some stories from brothers from cuba, that used to be mediums or "saints", and how the demons "immediately started to attack them when they started learning the truth(tm)".

Demons are nonexistent. Figments of the imagination drawn up to excuse people's own evil actions or fears.

Scientology would be just another harmless goofy religion if it weren't for the money aspect.
