I know he taught my dad how to mix a boilermaker while they were pioneering in Quebec.

I'm glad my children don't have to grow up being afraid of cupcakes
by Ilovebirthdays inyesterday, i brought a batch of cupcakes to my son's school.
in passing them out, i started to give one to one of the children, who was a jw.
he immediately started freaking out and screaming "no thank you" over and over.

Uhh, sniping atop a water tower with a sawn-off shotgun would make the kid retarded, not psychotic.

I simply DAed.... how did you Fade?
by Elsewhere indaing simple but brutal.. many here faded.
how did you accomplish this?
if you moved, how did you move without the elders trying to chase you down and send your information to a new congregation?

I just went from spotty meeting attendance to none. Got one "how you doing" visit from an elder/family friend but that was it. Was a little rough with my still-in parents but things changed and now they turn a blind eye to the fact that I live with my girlfriend. It helps that I was the only one of four kids that got dunked.

Just thought I'd chime in and say good on ya, bro! The world needs more enlightened atheists. Spirituality should be a personal thing, not something coerced.

Pondering the Flood...
by 2pink inthis is only my second thread here on this forum, so forgive me if i put this on the wrong board.. i'm a jw on the way out....past few years and esp past few months of thinking have pretty much sealed the deal for me.
i'm done.. so anyway, as i allow myself to think more and more and question more and more of the bible, something i have always wondered about is the flood.
did god regret doing that, hence the rainbow promise??

As others have already mentioned, take a deeper look at the sheer impossibility of a global flood and you'll find that the flood story is just another myth with no more truth in it than the exploits of the ancient Greek gods.
Purely in terms of the "rainbow promise", do you think God magically altered the laws of physics to allow light refraction only after the flood? Silly. It's just a tale invented by people from long ago trying to make sense of the world around them without the benefit of science.
A great resource for information regarding the flood is located here: http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/faq-noahs-ark.html
This was what led to me losing my faith in the god of the bible, because if there's one false myth what's to say that the other outlandish stuff (talking snakes, sun standing still, people rising from the dead) is true?

Yeah, I've got one that pops up (HA!) on my inner thigh every so often, always the same location and usually after I've done a lot of walking like after a hike. Something disturbingly satisfying about squeezing the little bastard.

Documentary About The Flood and Noah's Ark
by Blue Grass inabout a week or two ago i watched a documentary about the flood in noah's day entitled "in search of noah's ark".
two things i found very interesting in this program is a theory that one person had about how they believed the flood was caused due to a meteor hitting the ocean creating a tsunami that flooded the entire earth.
scientist were unanimous in their view that this is a very plausible scenario and that there is no way to rule this possibility out.

Strawman argument, unrelated to the age of the sample.

Perry, I don't know where you get the notion that the soft tissue recovered from M1125 was "stinking" or "rotting". I mean dude, listen to the video you yourself posted, the actual discoverer says they had to decalcify the sample in order to see the structures.
While it's fascinating that those blood vessels could be preserved like that, there's no disputing the age of the specimen. 86 separate chemical and radiometric analyses performed on the rock in which the specimen was encased put its age at over 64 million years old.

I met my current girlfriend on eharmony and only found out three months later that she was also a fully faded baptized witness, what're the odds? It never presented an obstacle because we've both moved on.
Our one-year anniversary was in July and we've been living together since the end of June.
