My take on the situation is that we're going to see something similar to the fall of the Roman Empire.
It wasn't a spectacular collapse, but was gradual and lasted many decades, centuries even. The world slid into a "dark age" but humanity was still alive and kicking. Later, an entirely new cultural paradigm (god I hate using that word) emerged built on the eroded ruins of Roman culture.
Rome was very similar in a certain aspect to the United States. It emerged from the values of a preceding culture (Greece for Rome, the British Empire for USA) and proved vastly more successful than its predecessor only to collapse under its own weight.

Anti-Christ, couldn't agree more.
What I DON'T see happening is a cosmic end of the human race à-la Armageddon. -

Not gonna be the end of the world, but it will definitely shake things up. I personally think the whole E85 project is disgusting because it doesn't address the root issues of oil dependency but simply tries to replace the oil with something else, which happens to be a food crop.
The world is definitely headed for another cultural shift in the coming century but it's not going to catastrophically end or anything. -

Uhh, none of that information is secret or anything. Cripes, I've read/heard most of that stuff in Popular Science and the History Channel.
All that video shows is some un-credentialed conspiracy theorist repeating stuff he read in the media with his own "the corporations! Bush! secret Nazis in space! Aauugh!" paranoid twist and a canned loop of cheesy "ominous" background music. -

The real root reason is that highly educated people are less likely to believe in God, plus higher salaries lead to better homes and more leisure activities and less devotion to field service and meeting attendance.

I am sooo stupid...we taught evolution?? What else don't I know?
by oompa ini asked my dad not too long ago.."just how many things do we have to be wrong about before you start to wonder if we really have the truth?
" he said he had kind of thought about that and we talked about whether being wrong about so many things in the past meant we were teaching falsehoods...just like we condemn every other religion of.
so i have really made him think about the sept km about only using wt literature (he had this part).

The problem that causes us to grow old and die, they go on to explain, is the earth's atmospheric conditions - most notably the unsuitably high levels of nitrogen.
___________________________________________________________________________________________
"Oxygen toxicity or oxygen toxicity syndrome (also known as the "Paul Bert effect") is severe hyperoxia caused by breathing oxygen at elevated partial pressures. The high concentration of oxygen damages cells. The precise mechanism(s) of the damage are not known, but oxygen gas has a propensity to react with certain metals to form superoxide which may attack double bonds in many organic systems, including the unsaturated fatty acid residues in cells. High concentrations of oxygen are known to increase the formation of cascades of such free-radicals in biological systems, at which in many then go on to directly harm DNA and other structures (see nitric oxide, peroxynitrite, and trioxidane). Normally, the body has many defense systems against such damage (see glutathione, catalase, and superoxide dismutase) but at higher concentrations of free oxygen, these systems are eventually overwhelmed with time, and the rate of damage to cell membranes exceeds the capacity of systems which control or repair it. Cell damage and cell death then results." -

The society actually STILL teaches evolution, but they don't draw attention to it. They're forced to teach a hard-core (and completely ridiculous) form of rapid evolution because of their literal interpretation of the Genesis flood account.
Since the ark was obviously limited in size and there are millions of species today, they teach that Noah took only "kinds" onto the ark, or proto-species that subsequently (and very VERY rapidly) evolved into the millions of diversified and highly adapted species we have today. For example one proto-feline pair would have produced domestic cats, lions, ocelots, lynxes (ironically, there's a picture of a drowning lynx in my Book of Bible Stories), panthers, cheetas, tigers, leopards and so on. One pair of proto-apes would have produced all the monkeys, gorillas, chimpanzees, baboons, lemurs, bushbabies, etc.
And don't forget that all this supposedly happened in the last 4000 years.
If you ever study evolution, you'll see that it is a process that takes millions of years. For example, the African and South American sub-continent were at one time a giant uninterrupted land mass. Fossils unearthed from that time period show a similar dentition pattern in both African and South American primates. Fast forward several million years and continental drift has separated the continents, isolating the primate populations into two separate groups. Evolution gradually creates two distinct dentition patterns as both groups evolve separately, so today all Old World primates have a similar pattern of teeth and all New World primates have a pattern different from this.
Most witnesses are unaware that they teach a radical form of extremely rapid evolution, and don't forget it HAS to be evolution creating all these diverse species because according to the bible, god is still on his creative "rest" day and wouldn't be whipping up any new animals after the flood. -

Watching that made me sick and very angry! I cannot BELIEVE he likened going to college to someone putting a gun to their head and trying to kill themselves.
He told the "experience" of a man with obsessive compulsive disorder who attempted suicide by shooting himself. He survived and was cured of the OCD because of the part of his brain that the bullet pierced. He asked, "but would you recommend other people shoot theirselves in the head? Other people go to college and also survive, but would you recommend other people go to the college?"

Holy crap, I heard that exact same "illustration" given at this summer's District convention. So they got that pearl directly from the gurus in Brooklyn? -

Jehovah invented the sword, according to Genesis.
by marmot inso much for a loving god if you're a bible apologist and take genesis literally.
"after he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the garden of eden cherubim and a *flaming sword* flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.
" genesis 3:24 niv .

Well lets see:
Adam lived 930 yrs.
Seth, Adams son lived 912 yrs.
E'nosh Seths son lived 905 yrs.
Ke'nan, E'noshs son lived 910 yrs.
Ma-hal'a-ele lived 895 yrs.
Ja'red lived 962 yrs.
E'noch lived 365 yrs. and God took him.
Me-thu'se-lah lived 969 yrs.
La'mech lived 777 yrs.
Then Noah had 500 yrs. when he began the construction of the great ark. Now I'm not mentioning from the great flood to the birth of Christ. So how many years is that? are you good in math?
-Aleman

You can't just string their lifespans end to end, you've got to take into account when they were supposedly born (ie: Adam didn't father Seth at 930 years of age, etc.)
All the convoluted calculations have already been done for you by the Watchtower Society. That date I plugged is taken is from the society's publications. Check it out on your WT-Library CD-ROM, just do a search on "chronology".
According to the society's literal interpretation of the bible the human race is roughly 6000 years old, which is hogwash. -

No offense, but that is worse than the looniest tripe from an old issue of The Golden Age.
"Bacteria embryos", "poisonous mucous" and "meridians where the internal organs are connected to your taste buds"? People, this is quackery. The damn description at the top even claimed that this would cure AIDS for crying out loud!
There is ample evidence that good oral hygiene is beneficial for many things (for example, studies showed that the bacteria that cause dental plaque can migrate into the bloodstream and contribute to blockages that cause heart disease) but this "oil pulling" is another type of oil entirely: snake oil.
Dilute saline solution (salt water) or listerine will do the trick, and not because it draws "poisonous mucous" from your body but because it cleans the bacteria from the small crevices in your mouth.
