I was thinking there was some metaphorical meaning I was missing. You're saying the inside of the kindom halls is so plain, that its like the inside of a coffin (wooden box). You don't mean those frilly soft coffins right?

by is there help out there inawile back i took a ex jw to a church service and some one found out she was a jw or ex jw.
the paster said to her that god always loved her and today he has some speceal love for her and she broked down and cried.
she told me that in all the years as a jw she never know if god love and would destroy her if she missed a meeting or did not do enought field service.

1st Post - 5 year lurker.
by whyareyoucame ini've been reading this forum for the past 5 years, today during christmas, my wonderful daughter "brooke" aka whyamihere finally got off her a$$ to show me how to post.. what next, you say?
who the hell knows, but i am here, while i finish my beer..... i lost my train of thought - yay for chistmas and that wonderful sweet necture that god created called southern comfort.. by the way, brooke is typing this, because i can't read while under the influence.. singing out to all my fellow apostates!.

Odd reaction...
by changeling ini spoke to one of my non-witness cousins the other day and she told me that our cousins who were raised sda were no longer active in their church.
she told me their mother was very upset.. i told my mom about this (these are my dad's family i'm talking about) and her reaction was: "good for them!
" i mentioned my aunt being upset about it and she said: "well, i had it out with her years ago".. at no point did she see the parallel between them and me or between her reaction and my aunt's.. i was very amused.... changeling.

A Holiday Gift to JWD, from Scully & Friends

this project entailed converting scans of hard copies of public talk outlines into pdf format and then compiling all of them into zip folders.
there are over 150 documents in total, complete with update notices from brooklyn.

Watchtower says JW's can reach different conclusions & it's fine!!!
by Must obey! inwatchtower study article "responding to your conscience" (october 15, 2007, pages 25-29, studied december 3-9, 2007) .
dealing with, inter alia, oral sex, contained what i thought was an interesting new way of describing how jw's can form their own personal, and different, conclusions and that no one needs to be 'disturbed' by this.
i have never seen the watchtower describe it quite this way, even in relation to conscience matters like whether to attend a church wedding.

I don't think anyone has brought up what I think the real hidden command in this article is. Without putting it in writing - the WTS has managed to put an absolute BAN on going to wedding or funerals for anyone who does NOT have an unbelieving mate!
From the tone of the article - the only person who would even CONSIDER it is someone being pressured by an unbelieving mate. Since 90% of witnesses are not in this situation, the message to them was that these activities would not even be considered, they're just wrong!
I've been to "wordlly" family weddings and funerals that my parents and in-laws refused to go to because they were in churches. I was so embarrased to call myself a JW and did what I could to prove to these people that we weren't ALL fanatics. This was a HORRIBLE "witness" since their conspicuous absence confirmed to the others in attendance that theses people were fanatics. I suppose this is what the WTS is shooting for - breaking up families, and isolating the "faithfull ones".

by BIG D infor those of you that dont know me, i am a single dad with 3 boys for 5 years now, my x signed her rights away long ago.. .
no support ever, no insurance, even before she signed her rights away, many long stories of her abuse that caused her to lose custody to me years ago, she has never dealt with her abuse over even acknowledged it, i put my kids thru years of counseling, and they do not wish to see her, she has been calling alot lately, i dont hear from her for maybe 4 months at a time, she is crying , wanting to try to see them.. i must tell you she has , mentally , physically, and mentally sexually abused them, and then charged me with sexual abuse, with which it took me a year in evaluations, and family studies , and 35,000 in lawyer fees to disprove, and the judge saw her lies and removed them from her for abuse.
i also believe she has many emotional problems , both real and imagined.
