  What are the worst pictures in My Book of Bible Stories?

  a few comments from muddy waters and mummatron on another thread peaked my curiosity and led me to revisit some of the illustrations in the my book of bible stories.

  i don't appear to have my old copy from when i was a child (thankfully), so i checked out the images over on watchtower.org where the entire book can be read online.

  the images below are taken from what is displayed on that website, although it wouldn't surprise me if there are equally awful images that haven't been used.. so which of the images below are the most grotesque and inappropriate for children?

  Is it fair to label everyone who quotes a scripture as "self-righteous ?

  self-righteous...one definition....... self-righteousness (also called sanctimoniousness, sententiousness, a holier-than-thou attitude[1]) is a feeling of (usually)smugmoral superiority[2] derived from a sense that one's beliefs, actions, or affiliations are of greater virtue than those of the average person.. the term "self-righteous" is often considered derogatory (see, for example, journalist and essayist james fallows' description of self-righteousness[3] in regards to nobel peace prize winners) particularly because self-righteous individuals are often thought to exhibit hypocrisy due to the belief that humans are imperfect and can therefore never be infallible, an idea similar to that of the freudian defense mechanism of reaction formation.

  the connection between self-righteousness and hypocrisy predates freud's views, however, as evidenced by the 1899 book good mrs. hypocrite: a study in self-righteousness, by the pseudonymous author "rita.".

  or criticism can be form of self-boasting (self-righteousness ) but does it not all come down to knowing the persons intent ... are all persons.

  60 yr. old needs chaperon????

  so, a female relative of mine who is 60 but inactive in the truth had their mate dying in the hospital.

  the older sister + husband and old brother (of dying man) (active witnesses) come to visit and stay at their home.

  the old sister is staying at the hospital around the clock for the duration of the visit but tells her sister-in-law that she must have a chaperon at the house if she is going to be there with her husband and her dying husbands older brother?

  Dreams can bring back pain.....

  anyone else have dreams about their jw relatives they've had to leave behind.

  it's always hard because the dreams are always vivid and tense with fighting/arguing.

  anyone else have this a lot?

  How Would You Answer...?

  i'm wondering what to reply to someone who said the main message of the "truth" is the same.

  that jehovah is god and he sent his only-begotten son to die for us,so that,we could have everlasting life on earth.. the rest of the changes don't really matter to them.

  that witnesses are the only religion to teach this and the only ones preaching it.

  whenever a new branch or k/hall is built, its always proof that supposedly j is blessing his people and speeding up the work.

  does that mean when they have to close a bethel branch it means he is pissed off with "his people"????.

  2 year old in China run over-people just walk by

  when i saw this article on the news it really disturbed me.

  the callousness of the 'people' walking by this poor, sweet baby as she lay writhing in pain and all alone, was horrific to say the least.

  my blood truly felt like it ran cold and i've been thinking about this little girl all night.
