OTWO - Your posts are appreciated. Loads of us are reading, and may not have anything to add. But I find the Dead Sea Scrolls very interresting. I've been watching some documentaries on them lately. Its just amazing that some group way back when picked the scriptures they liked, and got rid of the ones they didn't to make the bible that we use today. "All Scripture" my ass.

Surely the WT wouldn't LIE about motel/hotel accommodations?!?
by RisingEagle ini was eating lunch with 3/4 of my active jw family earlier today and they were bemoaning the idea that they were going to have to leave the central oklahoma area very early tomorrow morning to find a room so they could attend an assembly on the otherside of the state.
they had tried calling the 'approved' hotels and motels in the town where the assembly is being held and they were all booked.
so that left them looking at the rest of the approved list and having to travel as much as 50 miles away to get a room.

Approved Hotel = One that gives a kick-back to the Watchtower

Well Hello
by RichieRich ini've received several messages from friends about posting an update here.
it is true there are people here who care for/ about me, and it doesn't take too much time out of my day to just post a litte update, so i figured i would.
i heard from a little birdy with a big nose that my name has been mentioned once or twice around here, and that prompted me to stick my nose in.

apostates at assemblys
by looloo ini was told not to even look at them when i studied, but i did not buy the satan stuff about them and said well what have the watchtower got to worry about if they have the truth and no skeletons in the closet ?
i was quite tempted to speak to them and felt rude and judgemental , what did you used to think about them when you were dubs in the trufff ?

For those who have protested - did you ever feel you were making progress? Did people talk to you? Or did you feel you were simply "planting seeds"?

Do you know any other DF people? Talk to them and find out if their families talk to them. This rule isn't always enforced. My dad is an elder, and he talks to my DF sister all the time. All of her DF friends have totally normal relations with their families. If you can find other DF families talking to the DF ones, then maybe show this example to your family and ask why they are going the extra mile.

Was your decision to leave the jw's based upon worldly friends/influences?
by chicken inhi guys, i'm new to the forum :) i'm a worldly girl and got a friend who is a jw so im quite interested to hear from all of you :) also how did you're worldly friends compare to your jw friends.
thanx in advance x.

I think generally worldly friends have nothing to do with the desire to leave. Although having these friends does make the transition easier or even possible (this is why we're not allowed to have worldly friends).

Do they still do the Friday Night Pre-WT Study???
by Confucious inin the early 90's, all the rage was the pre wt study.. basically, the young witnesses would get together on friday nights to underline their watchtower together.. then afterwards we'd hangout or whatever.. it used to drive me crazy because if you wanted to hang out, basically you would have to sit through another meeting.. granted it was informal, but it was the same dang thing you were going to do again on sunday.. the young ones still doing this today?.

I only went to a few. We were so freakin holy. Not like kids these days.
Actually - it was fun because it was so informal you could make smart-ass answers and get a laugh wihtout too much hassle.

Always thought they were a bunch-o-nutjobs. Everyone would say - "If they don't want the truth why don't they just move on with their lives and do what they want. Why do they have to keep hassling us?". Now I kinda understand. Perhaps they are good people trying to help others get out. Or maybe they are nutjobs. I've never talked to these people, but would now.

God of the OT - not so gentle with gentiles genitals
by Gregor inwhat was the significance of all the focus on the foreskin?
the wt has tried to make a case that it was god's wisdom for humans health to remove it, even though god created man with it.
a design flaw followed by a manufacturers recall?

A friend of mine used to always kill me by immitating the man couting the foreskins that were brought back. He would pretend to have a stack of them in his hand and with the thumb of his other hand slide them off one at a time counting out loud and licking his thumb after each one - like turning pages of a book. Disgusting and funny.
