a man has 2 children.
he tells you one is a boy born on a tuesday.
what is the probability the other is a boy to?.
Did you mean that the other one can't be a boy born on a tuesday also? If that's the case, then I'll go for 6/14 (42.86%)
a man has 2 children.

what is the probability the other is a boy to?.
I'll have a stab at it. If there's a 1 in 1000 chance the other child is a hermaphrodite, then the chance that it is a boy is 49.95%
call for peace and security?.
or maybe once they see religion couldn't stop it, that they ban religion?.

About time someone solved this problem. I'm assuming this plan worked, right?
i seem to recall the earlier versions of watchtower cd-rom containing books from the 50's and 60's [life everlasting in the freedom of the son's of god - babylon the great has fallen - etc].
i have no cd predating 2001 now in my possession - and looked at that one today doing research, finding that virtually nothing pre-1970 is there [except the revised/altered 'truth' book].. is my memory faulty on this?
could it be that they just 'retired' the older pubs innocently?
I asked my (elder) father why they've removed some of the old publications from the CDs. He said "obviously to make room for the new ones". Then I told him the CD is less than half full, and he had nothing to say.
this week for the service meeting is a local needs part.
i just wondered, for those that are fading, what was your congregations local needs for this week?
and for those who have been out awhile, what were some of the problems uncovered during local needs?.
Thinking is bad. Read paragraph, repeat paragraph. No thinking required, and no danger of someone sharing one of their nasty "independent thoughts".
um... a witness sent me this in an email.
it's going around as the rumored program, but there's no proof.. if it is real though...is very last one symbolic?
or is it literal?
Wow! That looks absolutely horrendous! 3 days of "you must obey god the organization completely". So glad to be free!!!
i have done this thread a long time ago , but a few newbies have joined recently and may have had some experiances to share , there was 2 in the congregation i was involved with (i was a "study" ) one was from bethel in america and got deported after his prison sentence and the other was reprooved for abuse then carried on abusing in the congregation , years later he abused my daughter and after i found out i reported him to the police , but he had got off "scot free" for 20 years untill i reported him .
i believe the one from bethel was reported to the police simply because elders kids were affected ..
My last congregation had at least one. A super-zealous anti-catholic pioneer. He disappeared a few years ago when the police started looking for him. He's still on the run as far as I know. He did like to babysit some kids in the congregation (not mine thankfully). I don't think he was ever DF or even reproved, even though everyone knows what he was up to, he hasn't been convicted yet.
i am really on the fence on this issue right now and would love some opinions.. i find that i dont sit down and read the bible for long periods since becoming inactive, but on the other hand, individual scriptures mean much more to me now.. i will sit down and look up some favorite passages from time to time and feel like its the first time i really "got it" - without the jw goggles on.
i love matthew chapter 23, since i think it describes to a tee the situation in jw congregations.
i think if jesus returned today, he would blast the elders and "leaders" of the borg in a similar fashion (along with most religious leaders) .matthew 24 is actually more interesting to me now, simply because my whole life was waiting for the 1914 generation to end sometime during the reagan era!
On my way out I was honestly searching for "truth". I decided to give the bible a go (without the "aid" of WT publications). I was appalled by what I read. The funny thing was as a DUB I never read the bible through. It seemed an insurmountable task that would take a year. But now, reading a 1000 page book isn't such a big deal. What a 'tard I was. You can find nuggets of "truth" in any old or new work of fiction such as the bible. There's no reason this book should get special attention. Way over-rated.
well, my experience isn't anything extraordinary or anything, just interesting.
yesterday, i spent the evening with my brother and his family.
my brother is an elder and my nephew is grown and is a ms and pioneer.
OK. I see the confusion. In your original post you said "anyone who died in the last days would not be resurected". I thought you meant AT "armageddon". If you die the day before, then you got a bit of a chance (not much depending on the articles you choose to read).
*** w89 9/1 p. 19 par. 7 Remaining Organized for Survival Into the Millennium ***
Only Jehovah’s Witnesses, those of the anointed remnant and the “great crowd,” as a united organization under the protection of the Supreme Organizer, have any Scriptural hope of surviving the impending end of this doomed system dominated by Satan the Devil.
Which doesn't quite jive with this from the "public" watchtower of April 1, 2008, page 31, last paragragh:
"Lovers of Jehovah God and his Son, Jesus Christ, need not fear Armageddon. God's battle is directed solely against those humans whom God judges to be incorrigibly wicked."
When I was a dub I would collect the fringe articles that would spin things the way I wanted to believe. There's so much flip flop, that you can really piece together your own belief system and back it up with old watchtower articles.
And some people just refuse to believe that the organization even says things. Like my mom - she refuses to believe that the organization says children will be killed at armageddon. I offered to show her in her own watchtowers, and she wouldn't even look. She said it would be ridiculous for a loving god to do that, and she wouldn't even consider the idea that her church would print such a thing.
But, my mother, of course, always stressed that we do not follow imperfect men. So, I let it go at that.
Ahh the old "we're just imperfect men therefore not accountable for our actions" vs. "we're appointed by holy spirit therefore have absolute authority" enigma.
