  hi all, been lerking for a few years now was a j.w for 38 years.. for reasons i may explain later i "burnt out and faded away" "checked out and left" " no regrets(they don't work).. ive read alot of stories and can relate to what your saying but was there anything positive you took away from being a j.w??.

  for me it was the ability to communicate i'm in business when i go to quote a job i'm at ease explaining things and getting my point across.. what about you ??.

  I like the kindness and patience that my hubby aquired from them. Well, like i've told him before, I think those traits are his personality and not something that was taught, but oh well.

  Don't Overthink The Watchtower Society

  i often read various attempts at explanations of whatever changes the watchtower society comes up.

  with that suggest a collective intelligence greater than anything i've actually observed.

  when i left bethel, many years ago, i believed that jehovah was guiding this organization because i. didn't see much depth of intelligence in the governing body.

  Does Gilead have any accreditation?

  when a witness talks about someone who has "graduated" from gilead, they always make it sound like such an accomplishment as if they graduated from harvard or somethin...lol.

  i know it's called the watchtower bible school of gilead and is located at the watchtower educational center in patterson, ny (sounds impressive, uh?)..

  it used to be known as the watchtower bible college of gilead in south lansing, ny.. does this school have any accreditation that you know of or is it just glorified classroom training for jw "missionaries"?

  I find it interesting that the grades are

  A= excellent

  B=superior

  c=average

  d=poor

  e=failing

  I thought F was failing

  Maybe the F is handed out for "Fellowship, you just barely made it but you listen and follow well like a puppy, We'll let you in now."

  Are there any known JW doctors?

  i think there is one at my hospital because of what a coworker said one time in reference to blood doctrine.

  i can't imagine them going into medicine with all the time it requires, between school, residency, etc.

  just wondering

  Thanks so much for sharing this experience.

  I had a friend (Jw) that came near date rape, she did go to the authorities because he was definately not a jw. At one point she hesitated telling her parents because she had gone out unchapperoned before. Also she thought twice about going to counceling because it wasn't advised. What pissed me off later when i thought about it, my husband suggested i call and talk to her because people in the congragation wouldn't know how to handle this and i would because of my past experience. Okay, I thought, so because I've been a "harlot" i can relate to her putting herself in this situation. Turned out the "girls" in her congo had more experience than me.

  Sorry I went into a rant, just gets me so steamed!

  Spanish congo's, different?

  my hubby went to a spanish congo and it seems that they operate a little differently.

  is this accurate?

  example, i don't think my father in law goes out in service, and he's a big ol' witness.
