  We don't celebrate holidays because ........

  i just can't stomach the time wasted in meetings and in the literature about the jw stand on holidays.. we try to explain why we don't celebrate christmas, mothers day, halloween, thanksgiving day, etc, etc, etc.. yet in reality, other than the memorial and anniversaries, we don't celebrate anything, regardless of the origins of the holiday.

  if a new holiday was created encouraging people to be nice to each other, we still wouldn't celebrate it ... it would be worldly!!!.

  all the time and energy put into determining the origins of certains days is just a waste of time.

I mean, is it common knowledge and that is why people are so afraid of them? What is the purpose of someone having to go into such great detail?

  Sorry for the 20 questions game. Just preparing for the biggest debate of my life.....

  Congregation consequences if consenting to transfusion

  hubby and i were watching a show on one of those health channels.

  i believe there was a thread here a few months ago about a gentleman that had a huge hemangioma on his face.

  long story short, he is finding it difficult to find a surgeon willing to operate with out him consenting to blood.

  See, that's what I assumed also. I'm pretty sure he didn't answer me because he assumes that I know the answer or he just isn't ready to deal with this issue yet.

  Once I was in the care with my MIL and SIL and they were talking about a family in their congregation that was fighting a transfusion of a small child. The child ended up getting the transfusion and when my MIL told my SIL, SIL looked like she had seen a ghost. I asked, (playing devils advocate), so what happens now? Crickets could be heard in that moving vehicle. But I couldn't read what that meant to them by their expression. Such weird body language.

  Hubby and I were watching a show on one of those health channels. I believe there was a thread here a few months ago about a gentleman that had a huge hemangioma on his face. Long story short, he is finding it difficult to find a surgeon willing to operate with out him consenting to blood. His sister is so frusterated, she has changed her whole life for him.

  There was a part in the show when they are about to leave for London to speak to yet another surgeon, and there appears to be what I would assume to be an elder that comes to "check on his friend". The man sticks to his guns and is adament about no transfusion. ETC

  So I ask my hubby, "So if he does decide to consent, what will his situation be in his congregation?" No answer, "Baby?..." to which he responds,"...these little pizzas sure look good!" Poor guy, I guess I should give him credit for watching the whole thing with me.

  I never knew this was the next show coming on, but when I saw that poor individual carrying 6lbs on his face, I remembered the thread on this board. I decided to leave it on and see what would happen.

  at least 300 have been terminated from the us bethel branch in the first month of 2008, and she expects the number to increase.

  I have raised 4 kids. I never trusted anyone alone with my kids. Not even in an adjoining room. I never allowed my older children to be alone with their younger brothers and sisters with a door closed. You are not obligated to defend your actions to anyone. We must give you the benefit of the doubt and assume some kind of scenario where it was absolutely unavoidable that your little girl was in a situation long enough for her to be molested.

  It's official. prop is one sick bastard. Brainwashing doesn't cover this asshole. If you can't leave your older children with your younger childern, you definately went wrong somewhere you evil "uck.

  I just read this and I think proplog2 is naive. Worldly companies do more to protect their employees when they, the employee, see the need to retire. To keep someone down for that many years and then just hang them out to dry is just cruel. What true skills do these individual have?
